Additional info & updates

Scholarships are listed as three year totals.

4/12 - I've withdrawn from most schools. Right now it's basically between Baylor, Nebraska, and BYU (if I get in). I'm a little scared about the tuition at Baylor, but litigation is what I'm interested in, so it seems like a good fit. Barring some crazy offer from another school, I'll be deciding from these three. I'm visiting Baylor next week. We'll see how the visit goes.

3/20 - Accepted at Baylor for fall semester. Sooo excited about that. I may still reapply for spring to see about a scholarship.

3/19 - Withdrew from STCL and Santa Clara. Rejected by UNLV. Not disappointed, I was going to withdraw anyway.

3/16 - Waitlisted by Oregon. I was on the fence about it to begin with, I will be withdrawing soon.

3/3 - Accepted to Santa Clara. Excited. Admit packet on its way.

3/8 - A month and a half after my acceptance, I received a $5,000/yer scholarship from STCL. I also found out I was waitlisted at Northeastern.

2/18 - Withdrew from Miami. Cost of living and cost of attendance made it unattractive to me. More withdrawals to come in the next few days.

2/9 - Accepted to Penn State yesterday. They also offered me a 5k/yr. Very excited, this is a serious contender.

2/4 - Found out I was rejected by Houston.

1/28 - Received my official acceptance letter from STCL. No scholarship offered.

1/28 - I'm going to start withdrawing from a few schools to open up some slots for other people. I'm not sure where I'll be headed, but I do know some places that I definitely won't be.

1/24 - Paid my deposit at Texas Tech today. I'm not sure I'm attending, but through the early decision program I had to pay by February 1. They're definitely in my top 3.

1/22 - Accepted at Kansas. They also offered a $10,000 per year scholarship. Psyched.

1/17 - Accepted at South Texas, no scholly info yet.

1/14 - Accepted at Gonzaga with a $20,000 per year scholly. I wasn't seriously considering them, but that is too good of a scholarship to not think about.

1/10 - Sort of accepted to Baylor today. Baylor waitlisted me for the fall semester, but accepted me for the Spring 2014 semester. I'm happy to get in at all there, but hopefully I get off the waitlist and have the opportunity to start in the fall.

1/9 - Status checker says a decision has been made at Gonzaga, but I don't know what it is. Still waiting for admit packet from TT.

1/4 - I received scholarship info from TT today via email. $5000 per year, plus in-state tuition. There doesn't really appear to be any gpa stipulation for renewing.

1/3 - First news of the new year...accepted at Texas Tech via email, more info. to come. I'm very excited, TT is now my frontrunner.

12/18 - Texas Wesleyan scholarship info. arrived. 35,000 total, with half the first year and the other half divided over the next two years, provided I'm in the top 25% of the class.

12/17 - received admit packets from NH and WV. 12,000/yr. from WV and 15,000/yr. from NH.

12/14 - Accepted at University of Nebraska via telephone call. Admit packet on its way.

12/14 - Rejected by George Mason. I'm a little bummed, but, due to some recent developments, I would have had to withdraw anyway.

12/14 - In at New Hampshire. Very excited NH is beautiful. Admit packet (hopefully with scholarship info.) in the mail.

12/10 - Accepted at West Virginia via status checker; admit packet is in the mail.

12/10 - Texas Wesleyan via status checker. Scholarship information to come.

11/30 - Accepted at UK via email, more info to come. 3 for 3 and a maybe so far. I feel lucky.

11/16 - Accepted via phone call by Michigan State. They offered me a $7,500 scholly with it. I'm very excited, this is one of my top 3 choices.

11/12 - Put on waitlist by Oklahoma. I'm not disappointed. I'm glad I'm still in the running.

11/5 - Got a fee waiver from William and Mary. Must have been an accident. All the same, I'm going to take advantage and apply.

Best of luck at U of H.

Excellent strategy. What probably improves your chances a lot more than the % acceptance number is the fact that you have a quite geographically diverse set of schools to which you are applying. I have little doubt that you will be accepted to a good/great school. In fact, you may want to develop a negotiation strategy to get/get more scholarship money.

I got my first acceptance letter of the cycle today. I am accepted to University of Miami. Very excited.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on the Miami acceptance. That's a great school and you should be very proud. This is one of the cases where just the numbers didn't tell the whole story. Apparently Miami has an outstanding trust and estate law program and I hear S. Florida is a great place to live. Also, to get Texas residency they want you to have graduated high school in TX, or have been living in TX for 12 months prior to application, or own a business in TX. The residency questionnaire is long and asks enough questions to flesh out only TX residents.

Thanks for the post, I was accepted at Marquette. If you don't mind the cold, then I suggest you check out Marquette. They have brand new facilties, too.

Great job getting into Kentucky and getting $$ at MSU. You're having a good cylce and will have a great one if Utah or BYU hits. I'd love to think I could get into BYU...exceptional school.

Monday, November 19 2012 at 07:00 PM

Thanks! Congrats on 3 positives so far! Best of luck on your cycle. I hope that you'll get into one of your reaches.

Sunday, October 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on getting into TexWes! I'm hoping to get into their PT program.

Friday, September 07 2012 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on your Tex Wes admit. On your status checker does it say anything about scholarship info to come? On mine it just says "admit" and says I will be getting a packet with additional info and important deadlines. Trying to figure out if that means for sure that I didn't get a scholarship at all

Tech did not send any scholly information in my email. Congrats on Tech, I see you are early decision for Tech. When do you have to decide on Tech?

Nebraska & Decision
Monday, November 19 2012 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, that surprises me that UNL didn't offer you any scholarship. I didn't talk them into increasing their scholarship offer to me. My grades this last semester helped increase my overall GPA, so maybe that had something to do with it? (Although I doubt it) I'm actually leaning towards TT right now, but I'm meeting with UNL alumni here where I live and maybe he'll be able to convince me otherwise. I'm honestly waiting for Arizona to take me. Where are you leaning?

Monday, September 10 2012 at 08:00 PM

Is the meeting you're planning on attending in Provo? If so, I'll probably be there too. I'm leaning toward TT as well. I'm going to their open house on April 5-6. Are you going? Penn St. is the other school I'm really interested by right now. If the U lets me in, I'll definitely attend there. The UNL went up 28 spots ( to 61) in the brand new US News rankings that dropped today. That's something to think about.

Baylor's a great law school. Congrats on your acceptance.

How did Oklahoma let you know you were accepted since there is no online tracker?
