Additional info & updates

Having dismal index numbers is both disconcerting and disheartening, but it never hurts to try.

Maybe I should have heeded my own advice regarding the LSAT - Amateurs practice till they get it right. Experts practice till they can't get it wrong.

Pain is temporary, but pride is forever!

3/28: Well I've decided if I don't get in South Texas I won't be attending law school this year. FCLS is nowhere worth the money and Phoenix is just too new. Will have to truly study hard for the lsat and apply as soon each school allows. I shouldn't wish you all good luck. To make it in this world you have to make your own luck.

3/22: Decision has been mailed from St. Marys

3/21: Learned that the smaller schools are not "rolling" but rather chooses completed applications at random.

3/14: Tech letter mailed.

3/8/11: UH is finally starting to review my application.

2/22/11: I'm really worried about not finding work upon graduation. There are so many obstacles in my path especially if I move back to my state of origin. With the legal field being saturated and the tier 4 stigma, it makes for a grim outlook compounded even further when no one has heard of your school beyond the state of Florida. If debt was at 50K then so be it but it'll be roughly doubled that. I'm having major second thoughts if I want to attend FCSL if I don't get admitted instate. I'm also considering applying next cycle with new numbers since transfering is quite difficult. Please comment with opinions, questions, or concerns.

2/11/11: Texas Tech file is in review.

Hi there! Congrats on your acceptance! What's your top choice? Did you receive any packet from FCSL?? Good luck on your remaining schools!:)

First Acceptances
Tuesday, February 01 2011 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your first couple of acceptances! And thank you for the words of encouragement. I was looking at your info and noticed that you were placed on academic probation and was in the pre-pharm association. You're like my male counterpart! I was actually put on academic probation twice so that's going to deeply hurt my chances of getting in anywhere but I'm not giving up hope. Trust me, Cooley will be my last resort. Even then I probably will not go and try again next year. Good luck with the rest of the cycle!

All the best....

I wish you the very best with Florida Coastal! Do you think you will go ahead and go for it this year? If so, CONGRATS to you, I'm glad you did't give up hope.

P.S. I am rooting for you at Phoenix School of Law. I visted there this past week, it was pretty neat! Keep us posted on your cycle, I can see you still have many pending decisions!

Opinion on FCSL and Tier 4 Schools
Monday, April 12 2010 at 08:00 PM

My opinion on FCSL is yes, its expensive BUT if you truly want to become a lawyer and this is your only option then don't let the price or tier 4 stigma stop you from attending. Once you pass the bar you can either get hired at a office or if you can't get hired then open up your own(worse case scenario!). I believe its all about how bad you want it! Wesley Snipes attorney who defended him against tax evasion charges a couple years back graduated from North Carolina Central, a tier 4 school! The possibilities are endless, don't give up hope!

FCSL
Saturday, September 15 2007 at 08:00 PM

my two cents: I withdrew from FCSL 3 years back because I did not want to be in exactly the position you've described in your 2/22 post. I, personally, am happy I did so, but that is not to say that if I had stayed I would've inevitably failed. I have some friends who are due to graduate from FCSL shortly, and they have found work. I don't know what their new job will pay nor do know about their debt situation. Regardless, I would venture to say they are not in the top 10 or even 20% of their class. My decision to withdraw relied greatly on this thought: Time is my friend. Retake LSAT, apply early next cycle, and your patience and forethought will be rewarded.

thanks!

^ I know FCSL is private/for-profit and everything else you mentioned hence why I had doubts in the very first place. In-state, given the context, meant Texas. At this point I have elected not to attend FCSL. I came to this conclusion based upon reading a few 1Ls' post from www.top-law-schools.com. Thanks for the heads up anyhow. GL on your cycle.
