Additional info & updates

A late applicant...I'm a little worried, but I only need a few choices to feel content. I won't really know where I want to be until I visit anyway.
Perhaps I can act as a test case to everyone's theories about late apps...

Wrote "Why Our School?" essays to Penn, Michigan and Duke.

2/19--in at NYU via purple folder in the mail. The letter is dated 2/14/08. I'm shocked (and so happy!) to hear so soon. This definitely makes whatever happens next easier to swallow. :)

3/2--After scouring previous LSN cycles, I know that 99% of outright acceptances have been received by the end of March. Here's hoping for a big month! During the last week in March, I'm going to visit NYU and any other east coast schools that have it in their hearts to accept me. Come on Penn, you can do it! Just say the word and I'm at your ASW March 28-29.
Later--status checker at Georgetown says I'm at decision. eep!

3/5--In at Georgetown with nice, small, cream-colored envelope. Personal note in there too (I guess that's what they do.) Adding GULC to my law school tour!

3/6--"Priority Waitlist" at Duke. Don't think I'm going to stay on it...makes things easier!

3/13--Large, light green envelope from Columbia!!

3/18--Harvard status checker went from "received" to "under review"-- still a tiny hope...but not really.

3/22--Went to decision on Michigan status checker, was able to log into admitted students site and see that they've mailed me an admissions packet!

3/25--rejected at Berkeley via thin envelope. expected.

3/31--finally complete Chicago (email)

4/1--Financial Aid email from NYU, $25,000 Dean's Scholarship ($10,000 for 1L and 2L, $5,000 for 3L)--nice!

4/2--waitlisted at Penn by email. I was so psyched about this place when I wrote my "Why Penn?" (it was an awesome essay too!), but having visited, I can say that I'm not bummed at all to have been waitlisted. It's definitely not the place for me.

4/29--Deposit down, I'm going to Columbia!!

5/13--Waitlist letter from Chicago. Two days later I got a "definitely maybe" email from Chicago in which I was told they were planning to make some acceptances and they wanted to take my application to committee--reply to the email if I still wanted to be considered...so for future late applicants, Chicago is prolly possible, but it happens LATE!

5/23-reject email from Harvard. Didn't hurt nearly as much as I thought it would. My little heart is set on Columbia. :D

thanks Cabra, your list is definitely a little, shall we say, "fancier" than mine. ;) What are your top 3 choices?

Great Numbers

Wow, you have great numbers. Best of luck, I bet you'll get into several (if not all) of those schools. Congrats and look forward to a lot of scholarships!

Hey Cabra. Thanks for the help on my PS. It looks like our numbers are pretty similar (I'd prefer yours, actually) so hopefully we both have a good cycle.

Upping the ante, are we? That is $20 I would NOT mind parting with. Also, Duke = idiots.

On Michigan!

Michigan!

Congrats on Michigan! I'm pretty sure that's where I'm going. Is there any chance you'd go there? With your #s I wouldn't be surprised if you got a good scholarship to go... you could almost get into Yale with your stats (172/3.7 seems to be about the baseline of admissions there on LSN).

thanks!
