Additional info & updates

GPA updated to include Fall 06 semester grades.

About my grades: Really good from freshmen year to the fall of sophomore year, got crappy when EC's took over, and back again this fall since I'm not doing as much. So before this fall my grades were downward trending, although I have a really good excuse.

Didn't take the interview with Northwestern.

Around the first week of February, I got a letter from Chicago suggesting that I write a new essay about one of several topics they gave. On 2/15, they also sent me an email suggesting that I call their office to schedule an interview. 4/5 Update: didn't do any of it, but finallly got in anyway.

4/6: And then there was one- only one school left to hear back from.

$$$$: All numbers are for three years combined. For UCLA and Georgetown I only list merit based aid. For the others, info includes both need and merit based aid, because the other schools didn't separate them.

I honestly don't know why I got waitlisted at Michigan, or Duke, or Virginia, or Penn. My numbers should be good enough. But like I said in in my description, my grades weren't consistent. On the other hand, even when they were low, they only went down to like around 3.2-3.3, which is about average at Cornell (an elite/semi-elite school). So maybe it was yield protection. Besides filling out the applications, I didn't do anything to show special interest in those schools, or in any of the law schools I applied to. No nagging phone calls to admissions offices, letters about how much I really want to get in, etc. So maybe they figured with my numbers I'd end up at a higher ranked school. Or maybe they just didn't like me.

Yeah, strange how unpredictable it is--it makes me glad I applied to so many places. I'm leaning pretty strong to Columbia now, how about you?.. GL with Harvard
