12/31 Admitted to UChicago via email. Ooooh this stuff's getting real now!
1/6 Admitted to Northwestern via online letter system. I'm loving this! I can think of a lot of worse things than going to law school in the loop :)
1/12 "Thanks for your patience" email from Michigan. This one bugs me because I am sincerely interested in Michigan Law, but they clearly aren't that interested in me. :(
1/13 Just got the call from SLS!!!!!! I'm speechless!!!!
1/13 Moved to faculty review at Berkeley. This does not feel like a good thing.
1/14 Admitted to UT via phone call.
1/16 Admitted to USC via email.
1/26 Admitted to Penn via phone call! YES!! This one means a lot to me personally. I totally didn't expect it.
1/26 Admitted to Columbia via snail mail. Well, that's, that's just fine :)
1/27 Withdrew from Duke and Michigan prior to receiving a decision. It's just gone on too long and they obviously aren't too jazzed about me. Might as well clean things up.
1/29 No app/$ updates, but how about a little state of mind update: Going to hear from Berkeley a week from tomorrow and then it's just waiting for Yale. First ding wave should come 3rd week of February, or so.
2/2 Chancellor's Scholarship at Texas...full tuition:).
2/6 W/L from Berkeley via email. I guess 13 was an unlucky number. Withdrew immediately...
2/10 Hello NYU...why, yes, I'd be glad to come interview for the super prestigious RTK scholarship! :)
2/21 Scholarship offer from USC, $40k/year--not competitive with other full ride offers from higher ranked schools.
2/25 In at Yale Law School. WTF?! I don't have words.
3/3 Day of rationalization. Withdrew from every school not named Yale or Stanford.
3/13 And so it ends...withdrew from SLS today and sent deposit into YLS. Can't believe it's all over!!!

Wow! Awesome! Great news about SLS! I noticed Harvard isn't on your list.....Anyway, good luck with Yale!

Thanks folks! Yes, and sadly, Harvard's not an option for me :(.

What are you leaning toward?

Sunday, November 02 2014 at 06:35 PM

Ha! @ DiniMae...it Simply Leaves So much to chance when you put too much info out there. But You Look So paranoid if you don't share, so that could change my mind but honestly, the odds of that happening at all aren't good. And there's always the wild free ride that could happen and change my whole deal. Forgive my lame attempt at subterfuge.

Right, at the risk of sounding creepy, I am back again to say that your cycle honestly makes me happy to watch. I have a feeling you may end up with a clean sweep and I hope the best possible outcome happens for you! :D

Sunday, November 02 2014 at 06:35 PM

Not creepy at all. I appreciate any and all encouragement. The sweep is impossible at this point, but I am pretty humbled by the idea of going 13/13 on my first decisions.

I figured it was a matter of time before you got into Yale. Congratulations! Maybe I'll see you there.

Sunday, November 02 2014 at 06:35 PM

Thanks!!!!! I'm obviously deficient, I had NO IDEA you got into YLS 3 days ago. Congrats!!! And, yes, perhaps I'll see you in New Haven. But maybe I'll see you in Palo Alto?

Congratulations!

I have slightly lower numbers than you, but am URM and have been out of school for almost as long. Can I ask how you wrote your PS? I tried to provide a narrative of my time away from school. Now I'm a bit worried that it did not focus enough on the reasons I have for going to LS.

Sunday, November 02 2014 at 06:35 PM

My PS was very direct. I spoke about my professional work and how going to law school was pivotal to that. My personal statement wasn't really "personal" at all. I saw it more as a "here's what I'm doing and this is why coming to your school is going to help me do it better". Good luck!
