Additional info & updates

By the way, I have been the king of all LSD lurkers since back around the June LSAT (they don't even know I'm their king -- that's how good I am at lurking). So if any of the folks who actually post see this, I just want to thank them for providing useful information/speculation, helping me trudge through eight desolate hours of desk-time at work each day, and occasionally totally freaking me out. Some of you regulars have clearly gone off the deep end, but you're pretty entertaining.

Thanks,
Dr.V

12/06/05 -- UVa online status check says the decision has been made, it's in the mail. But no phone call, dammit!

12/07/05 -- Ahem...so...got the UVa call today, with as-yet-to-be-determined $$. Woohoo! So, let's try this again...
No Harvard phone call, dammit!

12/17/05 -- E-mail today from Toby Stock (kind of unexpected on a Saturday). He wants to give me a call and chat about stuff. I guess I can make time. Also, I'm taking this to mean I'm complete at Harvard.
"I gotta split. The mayor wants to rap with me about some things."

12/19/05 -- Phone conversation with Toby Stock. He seemed a little nervous at first, but I kept it casual and he relaxed pretty quickly. Seems like a good guy.
Hello, Penn? Phone lines are open and operators are standing by. How about that call?

Also 12/19/05 -- Finally got that big brown NYU envelope. Woohoo! FYI -- letter dated 12/8, other materials printed 12/13, postmarked 12/14.

12/23/05 -- Got a nice little voicemail from my buddy Toby Stock this afternoon. Woohoo Harvard!
Do you hear that Penn? DO YOU?!

12/29/05 -- In at Northwestern by e-mail/status check. Woohoo!

12/31/05 -- Just got back to my apt from visiting family for the holidays and found a nice thin envelope full of deferral from Penn. Pffff, whatever. Yield protect THIS, ya jerks. Thanks for making my decision that much easier.

01/26/06 -- In at Columbia by mail. Woohoo!

So this part of the process is finally done. Now for the financial aid business. So it's still pretty much up in the air.

03/27/06 -- Oh yeah, Penn. I'd kind of forgetten about the Penn deferral. Um, o.k. Best of luck in your future endeavors, Dean Meeker.

Am I the only for whom Dr Venkman is not an obscure reference but rather a forfront of 80's pop trivia? Maybe it's just that I am a tad old for this cycle ;)

lawschoolkat, if you are, then I am too. That movie occupies an unjustifiably large part of my psyche. I was shocked to read the reference called "obscure" and "esoteric." I'm glad you're with me on this.

Venkman=legend, apple pie baking=law sch

The Dr. Venkman name drew me into this profile; it is hardly obscure. Between the name and the fact that you bake a mean apple pie, you're clearly going places. That 175/3.94/MA/Top 20 jazz...that's mere icing on the cake. Best of luck to you, although I doubt you need it.

Congratulations, and two quick questions

Hey, congratulations on the acceptance! I have two questions for you though. It would be awesome if you could answer them. I got a W on my transcript (non-punitive, non GPA counting,) Did you have any Ws on your transcript, or do you know anybody that has one or more and will it affect my acceptance into Harvard, Yale, etc? (Considering I get a high GPA and a high LSAT? (E-mail me or leave a message with the answer in my profile) Also, if you dont mind, could you tell me how you prepared for the LSAT?

NYU question

You mentioned that you live in an apartment...did the NYU envelope fit in your tiny little apartment mailbox? I got home tonight and have a note that I have a package in the package room, but won't be able to get it until the morning...wondering if it could be NYU, given that they're still holding out on me.
