2/26/13

I am withdrawing from a majority of schools at this point. I have decided to attend Baylor Law starting in the summer quarter. They offered me a really spectacular deal (which I will post after all of the deposit deadlines). I am keeping some of my other very high picks on the hook for now while I finalize some details with my living situation.

I couldn't be happier right now though!

02/01/13

WL'ed at Washington... I am amazed.

1/23/13
Accepted at Pitt via status checker.

Accepted at Utah!!! They sent me a small envelope and I figured it was a waitlist. Was very pleased to find an acceptance. I am really looking forward to visit.

I am now only waiting on one more school where I have a legitimate chance - CU. Well, I'm waiting (picture http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=angi1vwUkQc )

------------------------------------
1/17/13

Email from Wisconsin with $ offer! Wow! The email asks that I not share the award so I will not be posting it. I don't want to tempt fate.

Ohio State emailed to tell me that I was not receiving any money and they would reevaluate my app when they have a better hold on their funding situation. I'll take it especially now that I have a $ offer from a higher ranked school.

Accepted at Seton Hall - funny thing is back when I started this process Seton Hall was my target school. I may have been aiming low. Still, I look forward to see what scholarship offer is in their packet.

Still waiting on Utah and CU - can you tell that i have a bit of a thing for those two? ;)
-----------------------------------
01/14/13

Accepted at Wisconsin - Absolutely floored with this... Dare I dream I get any scholarship at all?

Accepted at Temple - they seem to place very well in the Philly market but I will have to wait for scholarship info.

Accepted at Willamette - was and is a safety.

Accepted at University of the Pacific - full ride - top 25% stip. bad.

I'm still waiting on Utah and Colorado... Really hoping I find something out this week.

1/04/12

Well, it has been a busy couple of days.

Accepted at Ohio State (WOW - First acceptence that was a flat Deny on LSP)
Accepted at Rutgers Newark w/ $
Accepted at Wyoming w/ $
Accepted at Syracuse
Accepted at Lewis & Clark
Accepted at University of Denver w/ $$
Decision made at San Diego (via status checker - have to wait for the letter in the mail)

I am very pleased with how my cycle is going so far. I am shocked that I have been as successful as I have been. My wife and I have begun the process of narowing down area of the country. Our focus is on the Mountain West/North West right now. I am really hoping for an acceptence from Utah and Colorado.

I really think my softs and the decline in the number of applicants is helping me out (mostly the decline in applicants I am sure...)

-------------------------------------
12/31/12
Accepted at Brooklyn. I like it as a NYC option provided they give me significant money.

App complete at Wyoming... Well, that only took a month.

--------------------------------------
12/29/12
Accepted at Arizona. Very happy about this one. Feels good breaking the first tier (if just barely). Looks like no one has received scholarship info yet. I really hope I get some money. UofA has great job numbers and while Arizona is not my ideal place to live I think I could make a home for myself there.

---------------------------------------
12/20/12
First rejection - out at Minnesota. It feels good to get one out of the way.

In at Catholic part time with $ - good academic standing stip. Meh.

In at Loyola Chicago. Scholarship info in Feb.

-------------------------------------------
12/19/12
Accepted at Baylor via phone call.

--------------------------------------
12/18/15
Baylor Law sent the accept/deny letter today. Could take up to two weeks to get here.

Accepted at Maine via status checker.

---------------------------------
12/17/12 -
Admitted to a bunch of schools since my last update. Northeastern (20k a year), Seattle, Richmond, New Mexico, and Marquette. No scholarship info so far except for Northeastern. I was really hoping for more $$$ from Northeastern. I LOVE their COOP program and the location in Boston is hard to beat. However, with their employment numbers and high tuition I would need a little bit more.

---------------------------------
12/06/12 -
Accepted to Drexel via email. Full tuition scholarship with 2.95 GPA stip. Packet should be here in a week. From the information on the website it looks like about 65% of the 2011 class kept their scholarship. Not at all a fan of stips. It is good to get in somewhere though. They also make it pretty hard to find out what their 1L curve is... which is a red flag. Finally found it... class mean is 2.8-3.0. Yeah... stips are bad.
-----------------------------

As you can see I have applied to a large number of schools (mostly T1 and T2 with some TTT fall backs). If law school applications are as down as some are predicting I think it is prudent to give myself more options. Money is a huge factor for me so scholarships with low/no stips (read: good academic standing) will play a heavy role in my final decision.

My focus is cost, job prospects, and area of the country - in that order. Most of my apps are to schools in the NE, NW, and mountain west. I threw a few at Texas schools because its close to home. Other than a shocking acceptance to Texas (not likely) I will likely have to move.

And the waiting begins...
