Additional info & updates

I had to take the LSAT 3 times last year because, unfortunately, the worst health period of my life culminated during the LSAT process. I was at the same time dealing with a tonsillectomy and ACL tear/surgery/recovery, while taking meds for a intestinal bacteria (that I caught "in hospital" during my tonsillectomy) that made me lose 80 lbs. I had to cancel my first test halfway through because of illness, and then received a poor score on the second because of the opiates I was taking for pain. I took 32 prep-tests (dating back to 1992) in preparation for my last attempt, and averaged a 166 overall (low of 158 and high of 174). Unfortunately, I simply panicked on the real thing. Not making excuses, but the "last chance" mentality definitely got to me. Oh well; shit happens. So heres to hoping athletics count for something!

2/26: Visited ND Law - If I get in...I'm going in a heartbeat

3/03: Rutgers-Camden came through...thank god...T-1 finally! Now I can stop worrying so much.

3/04: Realized that William & Mary offers an excellent program in American Studies - Applied late.

3/06: Got a call from W&M Dean - said my late application was fine. Should know sometime in two weeks!

3/07: My buddy got in to UNC through email...I have no such luck. Im at home now for spring break, so I hope there isnt a rejection letter waiting in my mailbox at school :(

Man this is coming right down to the wire. All of the schools I wanted to go to in the first place (minus BU/BC) have either wait-listed me, or are pending. Right now, Rutgers-Camden is where I see myself heading, if nothing changes...but I have a feeling someone out of that UNC, ND, W&M, W&L, RU, UM group is gonna give me a chance...

3/11: Declined Admission today at NESL, Baltimore, Vermont, and Pace. Talked to Notre Dame as well; someone actually took the time to read my thesis (!)

3/14: realized I got accepted into Campbell - when an offer for (nearly) a full scholarship arrived...hmmm

3/17: Hectic couple of days. Found out my thesis is being published as a book. W&M's Dean said my decision was coming either today or tomorrow, and Suffolk bumped my scholarship $$, and also gave me a grant - comes to $25,000 a year...decisions, decisions...

3/29 - Bunch of news today. WL'ed at Richmond last Friday, then WL'ed at Northeastern, Rutgers-Newark, and UNC today. Needless to say, its been a rough couple of days. Withdrew from Rutgers-Newark and Northeastern (both ranked lower than Camden) and decided to stay on WL at Richmond and UNC. Still waiting on Florida State, Maryland, and W&L. Withdrew other WL's, decided to keep 6 WL's max, with UNC, ND, and UM being my top 3. Hopefully, someone gives me a chance this summer. I am fully prepared to up and move everything if I get into ND and UM (my uncle is partner in a firm down there), but I'm not so sure about doing the same for UNC.

4/07 - Withdrew from Suffolk today - hard to watch 70k walk out the door, but I'll go with the less saturated Philly market Rutgers has to offer over Boston's "rat race." Realized there is a difference between the "hold" category I am in and the regular wait list at Miami, so there's some good news. Should hear back from them and Notre Dame soonish. Debating whether to stay on WL with Villanova and Richmond - simply do not see the point, with RU-C in the bag. Now, only waiting on W&L, FSU, and Maryland.

This waiting is getting old - I applied to W&L 6 months ago today!

4/08 - Rutgers-Camden offered me in-state tuition, plus my scholarship!! Means I'll be paying about $10k to go to law school each year!! Going to withdraw from everywhere but Notre Dame and UNC...but as of right now, I am going to Rutgers! Very happy with my decision...I will update my status throughout the summer, so good luck to everyone!

4/26 - Got dinged by Maryland and W&L, WL by FSU. Most likely heading to Rutgers, but going to ride Notre Dame out until the end.

6/13 - Rutgers it is. Hope this profile helps someone out in the future, and shows them that you can still go to a good school even if your LSAT is not incredible. Cheers!

Suffolk University is fabulous by the way. They even help their students find jobs, which is more and more uncommon these days at law schools. Congrat on your acceptance!

What is the issue with your numbers, meaning why did you have to change them?

Curious what you heard regarding posting real numbers/making yourself easily identifiable... I too was a bit apprehensive, but eventually decided it shouldn't really matter. Am I missing something?
