Additional info & updates

***Scholarship amounts are per year.***

10/17/09 - Open house at Campbell. The new Raleigh Campus is very impressive! I liked the small school atmosphere. The annual tuition of $55k is very intimidating.

10/22/09 - Visited USC Law. I was impressed with the area and the campus. The library is older as stated in most reviews, but it did not seem as bad as the reviews make it out to be. Tuition and living expenses are less than Campbell, which is a big plus.

12/5/09 - I took my first and last LSAT today. I am feeling pretty good about it. The results won't be out until 1/4/10, so I will have to wait till then to submit my applications.

12/28/09 - LSAT results emailed today, earlier than expected. 151, lower than I thought it would be. We will see if law school is meant to be. Applications should go out by the end of the week.

12/30/09 - Applications Away!!! I also determined that it cost me $720 to plan and apply to law school.

1/14/10 - Sent Leadership Fellows Application to Elon via email.

1/15/10 - Decided to send applications to Charlotte and Charleston, they were both free!

2/12/10 - Email from Charlotte stating I am accepted and offering $7,500 per year merit scholarship.

2/18/10 - Got an email from Campbell stating my application is on "Hold for further review," it also stressed the fact that this is not a Waitlist. ?????? Further, a decision will be rendered before 3/15/10. I am concerned, but will take it as a good thing.

3/2/10 - NCCU Status Checker is showing "Complete and In Review."

3/12/10 - Campbell status changed to "HOLD", hmm?

3/17/10 - Campbell Status Checker states that I was accepted to the PBAP program, which might as well be a rejection. I changed my school settings to reflect the special program.

3/26/10 - Rejection from SC via snail mail.

4/11/10 - Elon status checker changed to committee review. Rejection from Charleston via mail.

4/12/10 - Rejection from UNC via mail dated 4/7/10.

4/23/10 - NCCU status checker states "decision rendered".

4/30/10 - Waitlisted at NCCU by mail dated 4/28/10.

5/6/10 - Elon status checker states "decision rendered."

6/3/10 - Sent seat deposit to Charlotte to start in January! The deferment worked great for me and my family.

7/21/10 - Received a offer of admission dated 7/20/10 from NCCU! Seat deposit sent overnight mail. I have 11 days to complete the remaining paper work. This is awesome!

Good luck with your apps this cycle. If you haven't visited NCCU yet, I would suggest a visit. It's a very nice building on the edge of campus & the faculty is very welcoming. I'll be visiting again during one of their Friday "Tour Days". Good luck!

Good luck

Good luck with NCCU! I was on hold at Campbell b4 I was admitted too. I visited and sent a LOCI referencing the visit and reiterating my why Campbell statement. If you haven't heard anything yet, there is still time to do the same. Best wishes on the remainder of the cycle!

Still under review?
Saturday, January 23 2010 at 07:00 PM

Its been three weeks to the day and still under review. Not rushing them, as I know my stuff went in late, but I do check every hour on the hour haha. Any news for you yet? We went under review around the same day.

Anything?

Any news? - None here. I really do think it will be this week and therefore I keep asking myself do I really want to know after all this waiting. I guess its better to find out... but... "You may find that having is not so pleasing a thing, after all, as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true." Spock (yes, I quoted Spock, sue me!)

Congrats on your acceptance to Charlotte! It looks like I will be seeing you there (just received my acceptance today). We have a lot in common (paralegal experience, criminal justice degrees, and education/teaching interests). I have never been to Charlotte. Maybe you can help me find my way around if you are familiar with the area, and possibly some job prospects. Do you plan to work part-time while attending law school? If so, maybe we can help each other with that.

Congratulations on your acceptance to NCCU law! Do you show a seat deposit pending online now or did you just receive a waitlist decision via mail? I'm on the waitlist and growing anxious. lol.
