Additional info & updates

The Choice number indicates the schools ranking.

Scholarship numbers reflect three year total.
-------------------------
6/8 -- Snail Mail from Columbia saying that they "could not take favorable action" on my application.

UPDATE: I've put a deposit down at Cardozo but am staying on Columbia's reserve list. I don't know that, if I got in, I would actually GO to Columbia but I'd like to continue to leave the possibility open so, at this time, I am NOT going to withdraw.

2/3 -- Waitlisted at Cornell via snail mail. Debating whether or not to withdraw.

3/31 -- Waitlisted at Duke via email. Probably going to withdraw from here as well.

3/18 -- Waitlisted at William and Mary via email, but I'm going to just email them back and withdraw.

3/5 -- Placed on Reserve at Columbia and have decided to stay on the Reserve list for future consideration. I also received scholarship information from Brooklyn today. I received the Centennial Grant for $3,000; the Acad Achievement for $2,500; and the Lark-Barranco for $3,500. All of which are renewable if I stay in the top 50% of the class.

3/3 -- Received an email from Brooklyn saying that I received a merit scholarship. Specific information has been sent by mail.

2/28 -- Big envelop from Loyola LA with acceptance and scholarship information inside of it. Also received a rather thick package from Cardozo with 5 or 6 little booklets about the school inside as well as scholarship information from Pace.

2/20 -- Emailed BU to tell them that I was not interested in remaining on the waitlist due to the large number of schools offering me scholarship money. It just doesn't make sense to pay that much when there are other great schools offering me great scholarships.

2/18 -- Email from BU with an attached letter telling me that I have been waitlisted and, if I wish to remain on the waitlist, to fill out a form. Although BU is a good school, I think I'll pass on it for a school that is willing to offer me more scholarship money.

2/17 -- In at Colorado and UConn. I was selected as an Oliver Ellswoth Scholar, which makes me eligible for in-state tuition for next year. I also received scholarship information from Miami. I was awarded a Dean's Merit Scholarship ($20,000), which is renewable for 2L and 3L provided you maintain a 3.2 GPA.

2/11 -- First rejection from Fordham via Online Status Checker :(

2/8 -- Scholarship information from Penn State came in today. I was awarded the Dean's Scholarship Award for a total of $60,000.

2/1 -- Called Cardozo today (as well as got my acceptance package in the mail.) I received the E Nathaniel Gates Scholarship for $35,000 as well as a Public Interest Scholarship for $5,000. This put Cardozo at the top of my list. I also received an acceptance from Pace with scholarship information to come later.

1/28 -- Got a voicemail from Cardozo telling me that I have been accepted and my package was mailed out so I should be receiving it shortly.

1/28 -- JUST got an email from Cornell telling me my application is complete and ready for review... what the heck took them so long?! Also got my official acceptance from Quinnipac with a scholarship of $25,000 a year.

1/26 -- Accepted to Brooklyn AND Quinnipac today via email. Official letters to come by mail. I hope Brooklyn is offering me something good!

1/25 -- Official letter from Temple came in the mail today. I received a full ride for all three years, assuming I stay in the top 50% of the class. I guessed what the full amount of the scholarship would be above.

1/24 -- Check my Online Applications Status Checker and saw that I have been accepted to Temple! The acceptance package was mailed out on the 21st.

1/22 -- Accepted to Penn State via email. Official letter and scholarship information to be mailed out by Friday, Jan. 29

1/16 - Accepted to Seton Hall with a $25,000 Presidential Scholarship that is renewable as long as I stay in the top 50% of the class. I was surprised to hear back already considering they sent out emails claiming that they weren't going to send out letters until Jan. 15. Hey, I'll take it!

12/29 - Accepted to St. John's in a small, but stuffed, envelop. I received a the Ron Brown Scholarship which covers the full cost of tuition (I guessed how much it would be in the list above) that requires me to stay in good academic standing, but what that is is not specified. I'm glad to finally be in at a school in NY.

12/18 - Small envelop from Univ. of Pittsburgh, it was an acceptance! I was also offered a $14,000 academic-based scholarship for next year, which is renewable for my 2nd and 3rd year if I maintain a B-average (3.0)

12/14 - Official acceptance letter for Villanova came in the mail today in a small envelop.

12/12 - Checked my Application Status online and Villanova's said "Congratulations - Admitted." Yay! Now just need to wait for the official letter to get here.

12/11 - Accepted to Northeastern! It was in a regular envelop (but was kind of stuffed due to the scholarship information.) I received the Social Justice Scholarship Award for $25,500 over the 3 years. They will also give me a $3,000 stipend if I do an unpaid co-op (I am interested in public interest work, so this is highly possible.) So happy to be accepted somewhere up North!

12/10 - Checked my Application Status' online and noticed that Northeastern sent out my decision letter on 12/7.

12/7 - Just received the classic big envelop from University of Miami. It feels awesome to have an acceptance under my belt. Now I know that I am *officially* attending law school.

Great that you got into Miami! Seems to be high on your list so great news! BTW are you Colombian? I noticed you spelled the school Columbia with an 'o'. Not trying to be critical, it annoys me when people spell the country with a 'u' so its nice to see it in reverse :). And if you are from Colombia congrats on being from one of the coolest places on Earth!

Yeah it looks like we both pulled out of the BU wait list for the same reason! I am getting really close to making a decision- I just need to visit a couple of places. And like I said in my profile, if UConn would just toss me a couple of bucks, it would be hard to resist. Congrats on your great scholarships and awesome overall cycle!!!

I am nowhere near making a decision and I don't think I will be until I hear from all the schools. Money is definitely a big factor. You have a lot of huge scholarships from great schools, do you know where you will headed this fall?

Going to UConn!

Hi- so I ended up choosing UConn after they offered me a full scholarship for my first year. Your cycle looks like it's wrapping up, and full of some tough decisions! Do you have any idea where you're headed?

Congrats on your decision to attend Cardozo!
