Additional info & updates

-Sent in most apps September 2-4

-Went complete for most apps Sept 3-5

09/05 - Received call from Dean of Arizona State. Informed me of acceptance and pending scholarship info that should arrive later today!

Edit: Scholarship info arrived. Asked to not disclose. It's very good news!

(Super cool to know I have at least one option! Also, props to ASU for being on the ball, and for Dean Doug Sylvester for being very kind and classy.)

09/12 - Some movement: (1) interview request from WUSTL, (2) status checker from UCLA, though apparently the UCLA status checker is functionally useless.

09/17 - Interviewed with WUSTL. The interviewer was very nice and friendly. Main questions were 'why law?' and 'why WUSTL?' Opportunity to ask a few questions of my own. No definite timeline for admissions results.

11/08 - Got an acceptance email from UC Davis! Scholarship info isn't sent out until January.

11/15 - Acceptance from Santa Clara via mail! No scholarship info.

11/20 - Acceptance email from USD! Scholarship info coming beginning of December.

11/21 - Acceptance email from McGeorge (University of the Pacific) with honors. I think that means the accelerated JD program. Information will come via mail sometime next week since it's a day before Thanksgiving.

11/30 - Notice of full ride from UOP McGeorge. It's contingent on my remaining in the top half of the class though.

12/3 - Accepted to Irvine via status checker. Nothing yet on scholarships.

12/21 - I have since been accepted to Irvine and waitlisted at UCLA. I've received scholarship info from all of the schools I have been accepted to.

I decided to switch my ASU application to the Sandra Day O'Connor Honors Program which includes guaranteed full tuition conditional on remaining in good standing. Given I want to work in a mid-size legal market in California, I don't feel pressured to attend the best school I can get into. Arizona State is a great school, and coming out of law school nearly debt free and able to pursue a legal career without the guillotine of student debt over my head is, to me, worth it in the long run. Can't wait to move to Phoenix!

Congrats on your cycle and ASU decision. With all the "drowning in debt" posts around, law school for free seems to be a very smart call. Good luck!
