Additional info & updates

"Choice" next to school name is my Chiashu % from 2004.

As far as my actual choice, I'm far from certain at the moment. A scholarship could play a factor. Also location. I'll need to visit places after I get it. For now though, my top choices are up in the air.

1/20 - Status checker for UVA told me a decision has been reached, and I'll receive it by mail in 7-10 days. Feeling optimistic, since I went complete on 1/10 very quick turnaround time.

1/25 - Got into UVA. Skinny envelope. Very nice to get that first acceptance. Possible Dean's Scholarship.

2/2 - Complete via Cornell status checker. First school to go complete that required a Dean's Cert. At least now I know for certain my school sent them out. Pretty quick turnaround time. Also went complete at Chicago via e-mail. Impressed by their efficiency.

2/3 - Complete at NYU via e-mail, then complete at Columbia via e-mail 10 minutes later. Whew! Now we're rolling.

2/6 - Complete at Duke via e-mail.

2/7 - Complete at Michigan via snail mail. Letter postmarked 2/1, dated 1/30. Also complete at Yale via e-mail. One left!

2/9 - Accepted into NYU via snail mail. MUCH sooner than I expected to hear, considering I got the "complete" e-mail around 5 PM on the 3rd. Considering mail travel time, my application was probably in committee like a day or two.

2/21 - Went decision in GULC Status Checker. Still not complete at HLS. My school got confirmation they'd received the Dean Cert about a month ago, but they still don't have it on file there. Sending in another one.

2/22 - No mail yet, but Duke invited me to a reception "for candidates admitted to Duke law school." I'm in!

2/23 - Received acceptance from Duke in mail. Also got acceptance into GULC. Cornell sent me mail asking for an interview. I'll call them tomorrow and arrange one over the phone.

3/3 - Waitlisted at Michigan via e-mail. Didn't write the "Why Michigan?" essay (but did write other optional essays). Was hoping to maybe get a scholarship there. Not sure whether I'll stay on the waitlist yet.

3/6 - Did interview over the phone with Cornell. Also withdrew from the waitlist at Michigan. In the end, it was because they don't consider waitlisted candidates for merit scholarships.

3/7 - E-mail from Duke naming me a "Dean's Scholar." Not sure yet what it means, except for a travel subsidy to visit (which I will be taking advantage of).

3/9 - Into Columbia via e-mail. Nervous opening it. Subject was "Decision," nothing in the body, and all that was attached was a small PDF. But very happy to hear. Also received rejection from Yale via snail mail. Expected, but disappointing.

3/14 - Received e-mail (a week after doing interview, as promised) acceptance to Cornell.

3/16 - Complete e-mail from Harvard. Just hoping odds aren't stacked against me too much by such a late completion. Not getting into the story here, but it involed a lost Dean Certification or two...

My main concern is that I applied very late in the cycle, around New Year's... but we'll see what happens.

The letter said I'd find out about the scholarship in "early March." Never got a phone call.

Hey I have a twin now. You should sweep the same schools I did. Hopefully Yale treats ya better than they did me. Good luck, I'll keep an eye out on your status.

It might have to do with my very young age.

You can't possibly be considering Cornell with those acceptances -- PLEASE withdraw to help out the rest of us! Thanks!
