Additional info & updates

Waiting is the hardest part! I decided not to pick a "safety" school per say so thank you W&M! I know I picked mostly reach schools, but they can't accept you if you don't even try.

11/24/09 - Accepted at William and Mary via status checker! Good start to the cycle.

11/25/09 - Got internship at Make-A-Wish Foundation; sending out addendum letters to schools already applied to.

11/27/09 - Requested Interview at Vanderbilt; Supposed to hear back in two weeks

11/27/09 - Big envelope from W&M via Priority Mail; Graduate Fellow entailing in-state tuition benefits (approximated at $10,200 per year) plus a $4,000 stipend as long as do research/law library work 8 hours/wk and maintain "B" average; Great incentive to go there

12/04/09 - Decision reached and mailed via status checker at W&L. Kind of nervous about it, I hope it comes soon.

12/07/09 - Set up an interview with a Vandy Alumna in my area. She seems nice, and I hope that goes well.

12/09/09 - Accepted at W&L via small envelope at current address; scholarship info comes later

12/14/09 - BC Decisions to be mailed out tomorrow; I've got my fingers crossed

12/15/09 - BC Decision mailed only according to status update; decision made on 12/13; Decision also mailed from American

12/16/09 - Waiting in horrible anticipation for both decisions to the detriment of my finals; Once I receive these I don't expect to hear from any other schools but Cornell this year

12/16/09 - Accepted via priority mail at American! So excited!

12/17/09 - Cornell status checker updated to decision reached as of 12-14-09; So nervous! Called and I'm on reserve and will be rereviewed in March, but she said there is definite interest. Also held for regular decision at BC.

12/22/09- Voice mail from GMU Admissions, and I'm in! She sounded really nice, and the admissions packet is in the mail. Four acceptances and no rejections before Christmas is more than I could've hoped for!

12/23/09 - will spend time over break writing LOCI to Cornell and BC; sending an addendum about another internship secured for the spring; sending addendum about maintaining my GPA despite working 20 hours a week

1/04/10 - in at Cardozo via phone call! renewable $32K per year scholarship!

1/5/10 - and the anxious waiting begins...I'm waiting on LSAC to update my transcript and process another LOR, and while I'm thrilled with all of my acceptances so far, it's tough waiting out the reaches/top choices

1/11/10 - Waitlisted at Fordham via status checker

1/15/10 - Ding at UVA via email; Hold at Illinois via email, probably going to withdraw because I'm not interested

1/18/10 - Politely requested that W&M match the Cardozo offer (or at least give me slightly more money); hopefully that goes well; the worst she can say is no, it's not as if they'll rescind my offer of admissions or scholarship because I was bold enough to ask

1/29/10 - recently dinged at NYU, no surprise, but still sad; WL at Illinois, likely to withdraw as I'm really not interested, only applied because it was free; under review at GULC

2/2/10 - Accepted via voice mail to BU!! So excited!! First top 20 acceptances, and I couldn't be happier with it.

2/8/10- Ding at Michigan via snail mail, no surprise there.

2/12/10 - Accepted at BC via large envelope! Unless a miracle gets me into Cornell or GULC, I'll likely be heading to BC or BU

2/22/10 - Received wait list letter from Vandy via snail mail; a pleasant surprise as I was expecting a flat out rejection

Yeah I only applied cause my sister wanted me to and said she would pay the application fee waiver, but you never know. Might as well take a shot.

Sunday, October 18 2009 at 08:00 PM

Congratulations on the W&M acceptance, that must feel good to have one under your belt! I wish I could say the same going into the holiday... oh well. We have similar #'s and applied to a few of the same schools, so I'll be keeping an eye on your progress - good luck! :)

Thanks! Similar numbers? More like identical ..and I'm in PGH as well. haha! Congrats on W&M! I'm really hoping to get in there.

If I got in, you should have no problem. I sent my app in about a week before you, so maybe you'll get something from them next week. Good Luck!

BU

No I haven't. I might call them on Monday to make sure everything is as it should be. I've looked at when people who applied last year started to hear from BC and BU and most of them started in late January so they could just be really slow getting around to it. I will let you know though.

thank you! ya 164s can break into the T14, you just need to have a flawless app...good luck! your best bet may be cornell!

Thursday, October 15 2009 at 08:00 PM

Yes, I'm at Pitt. I'm not too sure I want to stay here, but you can't beat in-state tuition. Plus, I got a fee waiver, so I figured it couldn't hurt to apply. Did your W&M status checker ever change? Mine has been stuck on "application ready for review." Ugh, so frustrating.

question about W&M
Wednesday, November 18 2009 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your acceptances! I'm just wondering whether you applied specifically for a fellowship at W&M or whethey they took the initiative to offer it.

congrats on w&m!

im a grad student at the college, so feel free to ask away about the town/student life . . . or the great gym!

BU
Monday, October 12 2009 at 08:00 PM

So I got an email yesterday from BU saying that my file was complete, so since you submitted yours on the same day you should probably be hearing something soon.

Wednesday, September 02 2009 at 08:00 PM

Williamsburg is a pretty tame town, but has a very high quality of life, depending on what you're looking for. The College itself is a beautiful place, but as far as I know, law students stay on the law school campus most of the time. The grad housing is adjacent to the law school, and I imagine is quite convenient for 1Ls. And oh yes, it is very hot here at the beginning of fall semester. But the winters are tame, and the springs are usually quite nice. it'll be a change for you, probably!

Monday, October 12 2009 at 08:00 PM

Good luck with W&L! That would be great for you if you could have two top 30 schools under your belt in early December. I haven't heard anything from anywhere else yet. You couldn't be more right, all the waiting is giving me gray hair. I've been under review at Georgetown since Thursday, and I'm considering it a victory that it's taken them more than one day to reject me.

Thursday, October 15 2009 at 08:00 PM

So how long was the period of time between your W&M changing to "Review Complete" and the new mailing being posted? Mine just changed to "Review Complete" about 5 minutes ago, but no new mailings yet. How nerve-racking!

My current & permanent addresses are the same, so I'm not sure. However, you probably got in since it's still early. Good luck!!!!!

Monday, November 23 2009 at 07:00 PM

Thanks I think you are in better shape than I am for American, but there is nothing to do but wait! Argh!

Friday, October 16 2009 at 08:00 PM

Thank you! Actually, mine still hasn't changed from Early Action Complete 11/9. I actually just called the admissions office because I had seen other people getting decisions without a status change and when I did they told me that I was in. If you call them they will tell you your decision very quickly. Good luck!

Congrats on George Mason, I have almost your exact numbers and submission date. I hope I get a nice call too.

Question
Friday, October 16 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey how do you add an addendum when you've sent everything in and your file is complete? The reason I ask is that I just graduated and my transcript has been updated... but I also want to add a note about something I achieved... what do I do? Please help me, thanks sooo much!! Congrats on all ur acceptances so far! Our numbers are kinda similar.

Fordham
Friday, October 16 2009 at 08:00 PM

I applied FT. I dunno what lawschoolpredictor is talking about... it says I'm "strongly considered" but it seems as if every person here who got accepted with scores like urs or mine were PTers. So yea, I do not feel confident at all about Fordham FT, sadly. Thanks so much for the info!

Thursday, October 15 2009 at 08:00 PM

Thanks a lot! It feels really great! Do you have a top choice as to where you would like to go yet? Good luck with everything!

BU
Monday, February 15 2010 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on BU! Im hopig to hear from them soon. Did you write an optional essay for them? I have similar numbers to you, and we seem to be pretty borderline at BU, so Im wondering what you think helped. Best of luck

Saturday, December 20 2008 at 07:00 PM

congrats on a great cycle! any idea where you're headed?

Saturday, December 20 2008 at 07:00 PM

BC or BU? Can't go wrong there! Congrats on your grant from BC! I'm dying for some money there! As of now, my top two choices are Hastings and BC. I absolutely love BC, but I want to return to California after graduation. Hastings might make more sense, but I'm hoping to get some money to BC so it'll be an easy choice :D Hastings doesn't give out much aid, unfortunately! If I don't get money to either, I have no idea what I'll do! I might choose Emory, but I'm hoping I won't have that decision. I just want to attend BC!!! Best of luck on your decision--have fun deciding on all those great schools!
