Additional info & updates

Decided law school was not the route I wanted to go. Best of luck to the rest of you.

Took a little longer to get my apps in then I wanted, but I got one LOR form out later than I should have and I spent some extra time working on my PS. Hopefully, it was worth the extra effort as I feel the PS is better than it would have been otherwise. Now it is time to wait.

3-08-10--Received a big packet from Indiana today. Impressive. Plus a handwritten note and a scholarship. Very nice touch.

2-12-10--Received a letter from Marquette today informing me I have a $7000/year no strings attached scholarship offer. Gives me something to consider.

2-05-10--Received a waitlist email from Wisconsin. I really hoped to get accepted there.

1-29-10--Received an email from Illinois placing me on the waitlist. I decided to withdraw from the waitlist at this point.

1-28-10--Since I last updated, I received a t-shirt from DePaul and some more information about Marquette and Iowa. It seems Marquette provides scholarship information in February so that should be coming out soon.

1-16-10--Small packet came from Marquette today. It would be nice to be able to commute from my parents to law school. So it is nice to hear from them. Also noticed I went into review of U of Illinois. Looking forward to some hopefully good news.

1-13-10--Received an email from Iowa that I am accepted. Wow, was not expecting that. Totally psyched.

1-12-10--Received a phone call from the Dean of MSU to inform me of my acceptance and full tuition scholarship. He was very nice and it was a pleasure to talk with him today. I am looking forward to receiving my packet and learning more about the offer and the school. Thanks MSU.

1-11-10---I received my acceptance packet from DePaul today. Offered me $8,000 per year contingent on maintaining a 3.2 gpa. Definitely, something to consider.

1-8-10--I got a call at home today and an email from the head of the IP program at DePaul letting me know I was accepted and to give them a call if I had any questions or wanted to visit or know more about the program. I have to say it feels nice to have my first acceptance.

1/5/10--DePaul put a decision letter in the mail yesterday. Hopefully it comes shortly.

12/21/09--Checked my status checkers today and noticed Mich St. said I went complete on Friday. Now I am only waiting to go complete at U of Iowa and U of Indiana and Northwestern. I know some of these schools want the hard copy of the LSAC report and that can take awhile to get so I am guessing they should all go complete about the same time.

12/15/09--My application at UW-Madison went complete today and now says its under review. Great to see things still moving.

12/14/09--Today I received notification from UW-Madison and Indiana University that they have my application and are checking it for completeness. Nice to see that Indiana expects to give you a decision in 6-8 weeks after your application is complete. I am enjoying the status checkers for sure. Makes it easy to see how things are going.

12/10/09---excited to see that UMN put my app under review. Whether that means they are actually reviewing it now we will see. Hopefully I get some good news from them.

I wish these status checkers could be centralized, instead of needing to go to each school and accessing them from there. They are all through LSAC so I would think there should be a link from the LSAC.org site to them, but I can't find anything like that.

12/9/09--Noticed today my U of Illinois app is now complete. It is waiting to go under review. That was quicker than I expected as the email they sent said it could take two weeks for that, but it was only a couple days.

12/8/09--DePaul sent and email and it said I should receive notification on acceptance in 2-3 weeks. Nice turn around time.

Congrats on your acceptances too! Especially Iowa, that's awesome! Hopefully the rest of the cycle will go as well as it has started for the both of us!

Thanks!

Congrats are your acceptances! As you said it does seem that Iowa does favor a high GPA. The best of luck to you on the rest of your schools! I am hoping that we might be able to tack on a few more schools that we both got accepted to beyond MSU and UI... UW and IU-B especially!

Yup, it looks like we got the same $ from Marquette. I actually spent a couple years working in a Neurobio lab, it sounds like we have some things in common. If you're serious about getting off the waitlist at UW, send them a LOCI. At least a couple people with similar numbers were WL, Accepted last cycle and the graduate degrees should help. Good luck!

Quick question, did the new ranking play into your decision at all? Best of luck, hope you get UW or UM!
