Hastings Deferral

Yup. It stinks. I was fortunate to get accepted to Santa Clara today to soften the pain. Your #'s are solid, though. You should get in during regular app review. Good luck!

It's not just you...

I'm pretty disappointed that I was deferred. And I'm surprised you were. I bet you get accepted (your GPA), but I forecast a Waitlist, reject for myself.

is my second choice, but I have about the same if not worse chances of getting in there. I really like Santa Clara, and if I can try and get them to give me a little more scholarship money, I wouldn't mind going there. I want to stay in the Bay Area as well.

After Hastings

My "Plan B" is San Diego. Santa Clara, Lewis & Clark, DePaul would all be considered if there was a lot of $$ involved. I've got a decent engineering career going, so taking on a lot of debt for a tier 2 isn't something I really want to do. If the Feb LSAT doesn't work & get me into Hastings... I may wait another cycle. We'll see. Good luck. I agree that your GPA will get you in at Hastings. Maybe consider retaking LSAT- if you get a couple points higher you are definitely in.

Is Hastings your fist choice? Don't give up, even if you are waitlisted, let them know your continued interest, it does matter. Also, consider transferring in as a 2nd year, you will still get your degree from Hastings and be able to take advantage of all the programs and opportunities available to you.

You are absolutely right! I am sure you are a competitive candidate. I am attracted to Hastings' programs and all the opportunites they offer. I attended UC Berkeley Law School.

Hi. Saw your post. I attend the Claremont Colleges currently. As for the process? I'm a little bummed that I got waitlisted at Hastings but am trying to move on. It's sad when you are seriously looking at your safeties as great options. How about things for you?

first choice

Yeah...it's frustrating. It's annoying that if I was more open to going to school outside of CA I could have definitely gone to a better school than it's looking... there is such a gap between good schools and then the others. My first choice (aside from the reaches of Stanford and Boalt) was Hastings. I am sort of writing that off and am probably leaning toward San Diego at this point. The tough part is turning down scholarships at USF and Santa Clara. How about you? What's it looking like?

Just saw your post...
