Additional info & updates

Spent first 3 years of undergrad at large, public. Years 2 and 3 I had several major health problems occur, which was a disaster for my GPA. Needless to say, I should have taken time with the very first health problem instead of going back and causing a domino affect in terms of health problems. I took just over 5 years off from school during which I recovered and then worked for the DNC and a US Senator. Returned to finish undergrad at a private university and achieved a cumulative 3.93 Major GPA and overall graduating institution GPA. Huge upward trend obviously since returning and also finishing masters next spring. Going to apply to some safety schools and some definite pipe dream schools!!! Good luck to everyone!

*11/8/11 Received call from UMKC offering interview...probably won't end up there but will participate in phone interview and see what happens.

*11/14/11 Call from Arkansas Dean Miller, accepted!

*11/16/11 Received call from Mizzou...I'm IN! Excited for this one since it's my home state and the state where I wanna practice!

*11/18/11 Had interview at UMKC and was told I'm accepted, loved the people and the faculty I met but was less than impressed with facility and school as a whole.

*12/16/11 Received email from SLU informing of me of acceptance. Email was a pdf of the hard copy. Also mentioned consideration for 1843 scholarship. Come on money...

*1/26 Receive acceptance from CU-Boulder...wahoo!!! Definitely a top choice school and excited to visit them in March! Scholarship to be released in mid-February

*2/9 Scholarship from Mizzou in amount of $27,000 over 3 years, contingent on remaining in top 50%. Hmmm with the low instate cost Mizzou just became a big contender again!!!

*3/6 Accepted at KU with $40,000 over 3 years, $20 K first year, $10K second and third years contingent on 2.5 GPA. Means I'd be paying a total of about $15K over 3 years for tuition Definitely a consideration

Hey, just wanted to say good luck with your cycle! We're both stuck with the same wretched LSDAS GPA, although your LSAT is much better than mine. Hopefully the adcomms show us some love! What's your top choice? We're applying to some of the same schools as well.

r u sure

you are URM? half white/half native? cause u don't want to mis-represent

URM

@black pride, Just as white/black is considered a URM, surely native American/white is also. A a matter of of fact, native Americans were discriminated against just as much, if not more, than African Americans.

I don't think blackpride was trying to say Native Americans weren't discriminated against (although how much compared to AAs is not really a discussion I think we should initiate). But the URM article on Top-Law-Schools dot com is a good reference to make sure whether or not you, personally qualify as a URM and what you can do to substantiate it as being NA doesn't count for much as far as just checking a box (the article elaborates). Best of luck with your cycle!

I have tribal affiliation with the Chippewa Tribe so I'm pretty sure I "qualify." I certainly am not going to not check both the caucasian and Native American boxes since I identify with both and don't want to mis-represent who I am. All of my applications include a diversity addendum explaining my tribal affiliation and diverse family background. In no way do I feel I'm misrepresenting anything.
