12-18-07 Got an email for admitted students at UF...called office of admissions, they said decision letter was on the way.

1-22-08 Huge envelope in the mail from Michigan...accepted.

02-06-08 Email from Penn saying I've been waitlisted

02-13-08 Email said Admissions decision was ready..accepted at Northwestern

02-14-08 Letter from Columbia says my application is "on Hold"

Your wait lists smack of yield protection. I'm sure if you wanted to go those schools (as opposed to the better ones you will no doubt be admitted to) a letter of interest would have you off the wait list so fast it would make your head spin.
