12/12/07: American is my first T1 acceptance! When I began this law school journey, way back in '04, it was my top choice. I dared not dream of higher ranked schools. But thanks to amazing resources like www.top-law-schools.com and www.lawschooldiscussion.org, I have realized my worth as a candidate. Here's to more acceptances and scholarships!

#'s are fake, btw.

1/24/08: Emboldened by my GW acceptance, I have sent out my very last app, a super reach if there ever was one. But if a girl sitting on a T-25 acceptance in January can't dream, who can? If I can catch T-14 waitlist, I'll sit on it all damn summer.

By the way, I can't figure out how to make LSN show two cycles for me. But for anyone interested, I applied in 06-07 to McGeorge (UoP), GGU and Loyola Los Angeles. I got into all three and I must say, what a long strange trip it has been. My cycle's not over yet but it appears that taking some time and re-applying was the right choice.

There's also a myth circulating that once you're below a school's 25%, it doesn't matter really how far below you are. I'm going to test this theory to the fullest.

2/11/08--Hilariously, in at Villanova. I checked my status checker and discovered that they had sent my letter, weeks ago, to some miscellaneous wrong address. I set them straight, they gave me my decision and hopefully some $$$ are forthcoming!

2/13/08--Letter arrived frm Villanova--small envelope. No $$ yet.

2/14/08--In at USF, finally. But not nearly as exciting as discovering that my app is on hold at NYU. Come on NYU! I love you! I'll attend and pay sticker! Love me!

2/15/08--Also exciting--25K a year from USF.

2/25/08--Rejection from NYU. It smarts slightly.

3/07/08--Waitlisted at Emory. Withdrawing.

3/08/08--The cycle has taken a vicious turn! Out at my number one crush, Georgetown. Unlikely T-14 dreams now hinge on UVA. I can't rightfully complain but I will anyway. In better news, though somewhat less relevant, in at Temple with 15k a year with 2.5 GPA. Nice. Wish it had arrived on another day!

3/31/08--Withdrawals galore! And don't it feel good? I would give my first born for UVA or UC Hastings/UC Davis. Otherwise, it looks like I'm headed to D.C! Go team, George Washington!

4/3/08--In at Hastings! It feels incredible!

4/11/08--Rejected at Davis! MY CYCLE IS OVER!!!!

Additional info & updates

Paranoid.

$$$ over three years.

I WILL BE AT HASTINGS IN THE FALL! I am so happy and so proud. My cycle has had its highs and lows but overall, I am so happy that I did another cycle. To go from last year when I was going to attend UOP, to this year when I will attend Hastings shows that hard work and persistence really do pay off. Woo! For any Bay Area people, UC grads or URMs who read this profile, feel free to hit me up.

PEACE!

American

Congrats on American. Check off URM status so it helps other URMs with seeing trends. I've been searching every school I applied to a million times over and it's definitely helped me. I hope I get an acceptance from American as well. We have similar numbers so here's hoping.

pointers?

As a blk female to another, what were some of the soft points that you used? How did you prepare? Any pointers whatsoever?

Thanks for the congrats. You say your numbers are fake so I can't give any input about what I think. But if we do have similar numbers, I have no doubt you're a very competitive candidate at Emory, considering blacks get a bigger URM boost. Here's hoping you get in! And nope, it still says complete. I got the phone call out of the blue without much expectance. It was one of the most pleasant surprises in my life.

I'm sure you will get into a top school if your numbers are anywhere close to those that you posted. Good Luck!

Ha!!

Are you serious?? Your stats are much better than mine. If they pass on you then they are truly crazy. Me it was a little understandable

You'll be fine
Thursday, December 06 2007 at 07:00 PM

You've already gotten into some great schools, and we just have to keep telling ourselves that schools are saving our files till the end. But that doesn't mean they won't accept us!!

Thanks
Friday, January 25 2008 at 07:00 PM

Thanks so much for the support! I refuse to let anything stop me. "You never know unless you try" is my motto for this cycle

1. I'm definitely planning on riding the WLs to the very end. 2. I have a few more schools that are hidden, but as of now Georgetown is my number 1 choice. I went to their ASD and had a great time, really loved the people there and the location.

Yeah, I was pretty surprised... not that my numbers are so great for them but I did get the Fee Waiver. :( I want to be in NY so I was considering them. They also gave me the option of switching to May entry? But I'm not sure I can do that.

Thanks!

I definitely plan on visiting the campus..most likely during ASW. I have to say Stanford is very high on my list now as I never really expected to get in when I first applied.

One more thing..

Go art history majors!

Thank you!
Thursday, July 05 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thank you for the comment! I felt that I had to pay extra, extra attention to my personal statement because my numbers weren't so great. Congrats on your acceptances!

Emory
Thursday, November 15 2007 at 07:00 PM

grrr I wish! I took the June '07 LSAT. So no luck there. At this point I'm expecting the worst. Do you think I should call? I don't want to harrass them, but I'm getting worried.

Texas
Monday, July 23 2007 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for the congrats. I'm actually not in-state. I didn't think I had any shot of getting in. The only reason I applied is because they sent me a fee waiver. I don't have any first choices yet but we'll see. How do you feel about GWU? I'm seriously considering attending and plan on visiting next month. I heard they don't give out a lot of money.

Congrats!
Monday, January 07 2008 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on all of your acceptances! Are you leaning towards any schools right now?

Hey!
Monday, January 07 2008 at 07:00 PM

I really have no idea, but my top 5 are Cornell, Wash U, IU-B, UT Austin and SMU. I hope/have to make a decision in April so we'll see what happens after I visit IU-B and Cornell. Have you visited any of your top schools yet?
