Brooklyn Law School: DENY at <5% **Waitlisted**

Additional info & updates

N.B. -- All schollys listed are total awards over the three years.

12/8/11 - Accepted at Suffolk via letter!!! Waiting on scholly info but I am just happy to finally be in somewhere at least! Update: probably no scholly, definitely going to withdraw.

12/12/11 - Accepted at Quinnipiac via e-mail!!! Got my scholly info: $30k per year with the reasonable stipulation of being top 50% of the class.

12/12/11 - Accepted at Rutgers-Newark via e-mail!!!

1/6/12 - Accepted at Seton Hall via status checker!!! Update: Got my packet and they gave me a Dean's Scholarship?! Very surprised, but I will take the $15k/year with top 50% stip any day.

1/11/12 - Accepted at Catholic U. of America via status checker!!! I have decided that since the cycle is going well thus far (knock on wood) that I should perhaps apply to some more reaches, so I applied to W&L today and will think about more schools in the coming days.

1/12/12 - Got a fee app waiver from Wake Forest and applied there to add another reach to my arsenal of schools. I also got accepted at Hofstra today via email!!! Update: They gave me $15k/year with a top 40% stip.

1/17/12 - Got into Syracuse via "Admitted Students" email. Got the snail mail when I got home... nice t-shirt schwag!

1/18/12 - First ding at George Mason via e-mail. Not surprised but kinda bummed... Also got a call from the Dean of Case Western and got in!!! I was also waitlisted via email by UConn. Talk about roller coaster of emotions!

1/20/12 - Let the rejections begin... Rejected at Temple via status checker.

1/26/12 - Rejected by W&L.

2/3/12 - Rejected by Wake Forest. I knew this was coming, really, but am hoping to hear more from other schools today.

2/8/12 - Got into Pace via snail mail. No indication of scholarship award yet, so I will have to see. Update: Pace gave me $14k/year.

2/15/12 - Waitlisted by Penn State via email.

2/17/12 - Accepted at St. John's via e-mail!!! I also got a fee waiver randomly from my parents' alma mater, Wash. U. - St. Louis. Probably should have applied sooner instead of being so pessimistic about my chances...

2/21/12 - Accepted at UPitt via status checker!!!

2/22/12 - Waitlisted at Cardozo via email.

3/14/12 - Waitlisted at Villanova via email = withdrawing.

3/23/12 - Just got an e-mail from WUSTL and I cannot believe I am actually waitlisted there!!! Also, I withdrew from the majority of schools, leaving only 9 or so still in contention.

3/29/12 - Waitlisted by both Brooklyn Law and URichmond Law... I guess I will see how this plays out.

4/20/12 - Got my scholarship upgraded to a Presidential Scholarship at $25k/year at Seton Hall. This pretty much tips the scales for me, I loved it there when I visited and the money and quality of life is too good to pass up. I will see out what happens with the waitlists for the sake of clarity and providing more stats here on LSN, but I am finally going to law school!

Thanks Tolson1, I appreciate it! Yeah my #1 is UConn... I get in-state tuition, it is 5 minutes from my current apartment, and the firm I work for is filled with UConn grads that absolutely loved it there. Good luck to you, too, and hopefully we will be attending together next Fall!

You didn't apply to American?

Sunday, July 17 2011 at 08:00 PM

I am actually thinking of throwing an application to American, if I had to choose one more. But I want to see how I do at some of the schools in that range (George Mason to Cardozo to UConn) before I try to waste money on the application fee.

I hate to do this but unless you visit AU don't waste your time. I was going to apply to AU and once I went I decided to save myself the $100. That place is way overcrowded, everywhere. It's not really accessible by public transportation (you have to take the subway to the shuttle) which is really a detriment in DC and it's overall just not a pleasant experience.

AHAHA I was just thinking about PM you on TLS the other day! We better bring in another striker in January, and if Chelsea is willing to part with him for 15-20mil, I'd give him another shot...him and Suarez can kill it upfront. Personally I'd go with a cheaper short term solution (Jermaine Defoe). Dude, I'm going to Liverpool in May to watch the Chelsea match :)

Send me a PM on LSN so that we can keep chatting. Same name.

S: Which school are you asking about?

What do you mean, "what"?
Sunday, July 17 2011 at 08:00 PM

Hmm... I'm not sure why one would think that because I got a large scholly at Quinnipiac that means I'm a URM. Somebody bought a Jump to Conclusions mat, eh?
