Additional info & updates

I wanted to post a wrap up of my thoughts after completing my cycle in hopes that it will help others this next cycle:

- not re-taking the LSAT is my biggest regret. I know we've all heard the stories of scoring 5 pts higher on practice tests, etc. but i think it really hurt my otherwise good chances at some top schools that i decided to forgo a re-take

* i should also note that my GPA was more towards 3.8 and that i graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC-Berkeley, so i was aiming high. this speaks to the importance of a strong LSAT score!!!

- i also made the mistake of applying to too many reach schools and not enough 50/50s and safetys. this made for a lot of post-rejection depression and anxiety

- i was WLd at some good schools but was very selective as to where i decided to pursue getting off the WL. UC Davis was my top choice and i did everything in my power to express to them why i should be in their class. this included a visit (no tour), 2 LOCIs, 2 new LORs, 1 email to the Assistant Dean, and several phone calls.

- in the end i did not make my decisions based on rank (a controversial factor); rather i relied on class size, employment prospects, cost, and ultimately QUALITY OF LIFE. my reasoning is that you have to spend 3 years there and face a certain amount of debt afterwards whether you have a job or not.

- if i did not get off the WL at Davis i was planning to attend USF, not the highest ranked school i got into, but a small comfortable school with an excellent regional reputation

- in the end, after a year of anxiety, uncertainty, and stress EVERYTHING ALWAYS WORKS OUT FOR THE BEST =)

Congrats on your acceptances too, but I'm sorry to disappoint you because I won't be withdrawing from the waitlist until I've heard from the Dean that the class is absolutely full... and even then, I'd wait another week or two or three. I think you're better off asking people who are already accepted and have committed themselves to another school. G'luck to you!
