Additional info & updates

Boston College Ding - not a surprise...

Michigan State asked me to go to a summer program, after which, if i passed, i would be accepted into the part-time program. I treated it as the rejection that it was.

Withdrew from Marquette because I would rather be in Cali than Wisconsin. New Yorkers put up with the cold, we don't love it.

Withdrew from Villanova because unfortunately, there was no way in hell i could afford to go there, even though i think it's a really good school. Sigh...

Santa Clara University offered me a Law Faculty Scholarship in the amount of 20,000/year. That is much more than i thought i would get, so i am sitting pretty right now. I plan on having full tuition+ by the start of 2L.

The only thing that would make me turn down Santa Clara is if Temple, Rutgers-New, or San Francisco accepted me and the cost of attendence is similar to Santa Clara. Maybe I would go to Temple with no money.

I have a hunch i'll get into San Fran, Syracuse, and Rutgers-New. Lets see how my premonitions play out.

Well, i was partly right about my future acceptances, in @ San Francisco, wait listed @ Rutgers-New. I don't think i'll be in @ Syracuse, and right now, I am the last thing on Temple's mind. lol.

Got my letter from San Francisco, they did not give me any kind of money, not even Monopoly money. Oh well, SANTA CLARA HERE I COME! They just became a member of the Order of the Coif, too. I am so exited.

Finally, the LS cycle is over...

Santa Clara

Congrats on Santa Clara too. I actually live in the Bay Area and attended USF. I've been to SCU a few times (friend went to school there and I went there to drop off my tuition deposit). The campus is beautiful. It's warm and sunny down in Silicon Valley. Many buildings on campus have that old mission look - Spanish-style roofing, palm trees, lots of green grass. It's supposed to be a great school. I used to work at a large, global law firm in Silicon Valley and they really like SCU Law graduates. Though there is a lot of competition from Boalt, Stanford, Hastings, and even Davis, SCU students have more of an edge that USF students (according to the partner of the firm I worked at; he was also the recruiting partner at one point). I love USF and the campus, and if they give me more money I would take USF over SCU. You can do really well at both schools and have great opportunities everywhere. However, I'm still holding out for Davis - currently waitlisted, but I think it's worth it since it's my only chance at a first tier school at this point. Good luck to you!

you too!

Congrats on all of your acceptances! I hear ya on the loans thing. It's such a pain. I thought I would be one of the farthest from home at Santa Clara next year, but you definitely have me beat! email me if you want to chat more.
