I became paranoid and hid most of my stats for now!

Additional info & updates

Born in a foreign country
Lived in another very different foreign country
Did some studying in both
Finally graduated in the US
On my own (in that other foreign country and later in the US) since 16

12/08/06
Phone call from Akron. I am in! Not that it was of any surprise (and I actually expected them to be the first to make their decision, although I didn't think it was going to be quite that fast)... but it does feel good to have the 1st acceptance.

12/18/06
Large priority mail from U of the Pacific... acceptance letter with a hand written note from the assistant dean! Nice! Said I would be a "Legal Scholar" (paid books, travel to Sacramento, honors at entrance). Said they are considering me for a merit scholarship, amount to be decided later.

1/3/07
In at Miami (snail mail)! No mentioning of scholarship at this point.

1/7/07
In at Temple (snail mail again). $12,000/yr scholarship as long as I remain in the upper half of the class at the end of each academic year.

1/10/07
Dean's Scholarship notification from Pacific McGeorge via snail mail, $15K/year.

1/18/07
In at Seton Hall via snail-mail. Offered $27K/year Chancellor's Scholarship.

1/22/07 In at UF today via snail mail. Scholarship info to come later, I guess (although it looks like UF tends to give very little).

1/23/07 $23,000 scholarship offer from Miami (via e-mail). As expected based on LSN data, no surprise here.

1/25/07 In at Ohio State - phone call from Assistant Dean(?). My status changed to "decision" yesterday so I knew this was coming! No mentioning of $ at this point.

2/07/07 Scholarship notification from OSU (snail mail). Offered two small ones, totaling $8,250/yr.

2/13/07 Finally complete at Cornell. Wish I was more attentive and knew I had to submit that Dean's Certification form sooner...

2/16/07 In at Santa Clara (snail mail). Will withdraw.

2/26/07 In at George Mason (phone call).

2/28/07 A letter of rejection from Georgetown. Not that this was unexpected, but I was kind of hoping for a miracle. Didn't happen. Oh well.

Also an e-mail from Akron, offering full tuition + $10K/year scholarship. I didn't look into this in detail but I've read in other LSN profiles that the stipend only runs for 1 year.

3/5/07 Rejection from IU Bloomington. As expected, I should add. My numbers are fine for this school but they requested to interview me in person (refused to do a phone interview) because they were "concerned" about my driving record (nothing more serious than a speeding ticket) and a dismissed (!) minor misdemeanor case from college years. I thought that request was idiotic and declined to come, hence the rejection. It's ok, though. Wasn't that much interested in them anyway.

3/15/07 Called Berkeley to find out what was happening and was told that a rejection letter was coming my way. Well, I guess I have to say this was not a real surprise. Though I did have a hope.

Also, it is time to start withdrawing from the schools that I am not seriously considering. Received a random e-mail communication from Temple and wrote right back to say I would like to withdraw. Will do it soon at other schools...

Right now it looks like Ohio State is my #1 choice.

3/22/06 Letter from W&L, waitlisted

3/23/06 Letter from Cornell - dinged. Now I've officially been dinged at all of my 3 reach schools. Miracle didn't happen...

3/30/07 Withdrawn from most schools.

Also, pretty excited about OSU's 8-spot jump in Usnews rankings!

You're having a great application cycle. Congrats! OSU's a great school, or so I've heard from a friend who goes to undergrad there. Me, I finally got my coveted UoP acceptance. Now I need to get some form of funding from them. Keeping my fingers crossed. :)
