Maryland is my number 1 choice without a doubt, I know its a big reach, but I'm hoping my in state status will give me the boost I need to get in.

I dont really want to go to Florida Coastal, but they emailed me and told me I'd be an auto accept and that I'd be gauranteed a $15K a year scholarship, so for $12 ill pay for that ego boost.

Additional info & updates

3/29 Withdrew from PT program at Penn State, and Fl. Coastal, I wont be staying on the WL at Catholic either.

3/28 attended the scholarship dinner at U Balt, it was very nice, and Im really happy with my decision to attend.

Woohoo Baltimore moved into the Tier 3 category, not really that big of a deal, but I think they're definetly up and coming and this confirms it.

3/25 Just received a full in state tuition scholarship from Baltimore, holy freaking crap!!! University of Baltimore 2011 here I come!!!
--I sent them a scholarship negotiation letter, let me know if you have any questions about that, and Id be happy to let you know what I said

3/23 Rejected from Maryland, oh well kind of knew it was coming..

3/11 Rejected from Seattle, kind of random, and also my first outright rejection, I probably would never have gone there, but thought it was worth a shot, apparently not lol

3/5 email from Penn State admitting me to their part time day program (which I did not apply to) stating that I would formally be admitted to the PT program, but if I chose to decline that offer I would be placed on the full time waitlist. So I'm going to mark that as a WL, I have to get back to them about PT by March 15th, Im not really considering it so...

3/1 attended ASD at Baltimore, it was nice, my fears of the run of the mill T4 (employment prospects and competitiveness mainly) were quelched, I would not mind going there. If you're interested in what I have to say, let me know and I'll expand :) I'd like to stay in MD so this definetly seems to be the frontrunner (seeing as there are no other viable options :P)

2/25 Waitlisted at Catholic, pretty disappointed by that, It's pretty likely, It will be U.baltimore...

2/7 accepted at Fl. Cstl, 15K a year scholarship, came via large white packet.

--I called Baltimore this morning (1/30) to see what the heck happened, talked to a guy and he wasnt sure why I had been waitlisted, and he looked over my file, and said he was changing my file to admitted right now!! So that's taken care of and I should get the letter shortly.

For reference both Catholic and Penn State emailed me when i went complete.
Able to check status for Baltimore via status check (although I never changed to complete)
Not a peep from Maryland and my status at Seattle still says incomplete.

Hi! Unfortunately, you are correct. I called today to find out why my status checker was all screwy. I was told a decision had been made and sent out and (after a bit of pushing), I was informed I had been waitlisted. I also thought I'd be auto-admit, as my LSAT scores are almost identical to yours and they're above the 25-75% range for the PT program I applied to. However, my GPA is lower than yours, due to an illness a few yrs ago. You should be in :) Good luck!

How long did it take for UB to request your law school report from LSAC? I applied on the 13th of January and they still haven't requested my report. Anyway, best of luck.

Thanks for the info. I actually don't attend UMBC anymore. After my rough start in '01, I left. I'm at University of Baltimore now. Anyway, I will probably call them Monday to see what's going on. The staff at UB is super slow though, so maybe that's it. Thanks for your help, and I wish you the very best on UMD (I've applied there, too) and your entire cycle.

that's SO strange! I thought you'd be in for sure and just assumed my GPA was the factor. (lower than yours, but same LSAT). maybe they're trying to increase their LSAT scores profile??? it seems weird though, since we're definitely on the upper end of their %s. did you get the "enclosed form" that the waitlist letter asks you to fill out? i didn't...

they notified me that i was complete via email but that is only because they emailed to tell me something was missing. after i gave them what they needed, i asked if i was complete and the adcomm lady i was talking to said "yes." it wasn't an automatic notification or anything. best of luck to you!

I'm not seriously considering anymore. They've yet to give me money, although they said I would surely get something in April, after I put down my seat deposit. I was a bit surprised. I'd much rather go to MD or Tulane, and if I'm accepted the choice is much easier if I'm not given anything. Anyway, good luck.

Maryland

Hi we have similar numbers. I think you are a strong candidate for Maryland. I just got in and I am not Instate. What all have you heard about the school. I see its ranked nicely!!! Good Luck this cycle!

I was waitlisted at MD today. I'm guessing you will hear from them any day now. Good luck to you; I hope you fair better than I!

Hey! Actually, I took the LSAT again. my score went up 1 pt and my gpa went up .2 pts from fall grades. i hadn't sent anything to baltimore, so they must have just gotten a new report and changed the decision.

UB Scholarship
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

Sorry about MD, but the scholarship to UB is great! I'm next door at the undergrad now, and I really believe it is a great school and wonderful atmosphere. Congratulations, again!

Congrats!!

I was also offered a full ride to U of Balt and am curious about the letter you sent. Did you send it before or after your initial scholarship offer? I'd also like to hear about ASD at Baltimore. I'm also hoping for Uof MD, but I know it's a reach. I emailed them today to check the status of my application and found out that my decision will be mailed on Friday.

Future

Well, I'm visiting Tulane this weekend, and it is definitely the front-runner. But, I was notified a decision was made at Georgetown today so we'll see how that goes. I'm fully expecting a rejection but you never know what to expect. I'd say 98% chance I'm at Tulane next Fall though. Again, I'm sure you'll love UB. I'm still somewhat bummed they never offered me money. I would have loved to be there for three more years.

scholarship negotiation letter

hi ashley, i am interested to hear how you went about negotiating such a great scholarship via letter. congratulations on that! if you have time, i would love it if you could email whatever you feel comfortable sharing with me. thank you so much! mike

GULC/Tulane
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, the rejection was a bummer, but I was expecting it. On the other hand, Tulane is an incredible campus and I was really impressed with the entire day. I met several deans and a lot of students. It is definitely a great school. New Orleans is a fantastic city, at least where the school is. I was shocked at how well everything was kept post-Katrina and all. I paid my commitment deposit on Saturday, so that's where I'm going. So UB is Tier 3 now, that is really good for them; I told you they were on the up and up. They will only get better in the next 3 years, especially w/ O'Malley as Gov. Tulane moved up two places as well, which doesn't hurt. Anyway, congrats again on everything. This whole process is a grueling one, and having people to share it with is very beneficial. Thanks!

Baltimore

I did send in my deposit to Baltimore! I'm still waiting on a few schools though, so I'm not definite on where I am going. Shoot me an email, I'd love to hear about the scholarship dinner/ASW.

Parking @UB
Saturday, October 20 2007 at 08:00 PM

Are you aware of the predicament at UB? We had a walk-out last week to protest this parking arrangment they are imposing upon us. Effective next year, parking will be close to $1500/year for a student who is on campus 5 times a week (depending on how long of course). Just thought I'd let you know.

Curve at UBalt
Monday, February 11 2008 at 07:00 PM

Hey Ashley! Have you heard anything about the curve at UBalt? I met with a few students over the weekend and heard that it\'s pretty tough, but they weren\'t sure exactly what it was. I know you had gone to a few of the events, and wasn\'t sure if you had any information. Hope this message finds you well! -Nifer
