Additional info & updates

GULC: Small white envelope saying I was on the "Preferred Wait List" and that they usually admit 50 students off the list up to the day of registration... umm thanks a lot... it would have been easier news to take if they waited until next month! I doubt they've seen all the applications yet!..... Recently received an email asking for reconfirmation of my interest... They will update on May 17

Miami came in a small envelope too

Fordham: first an email then came in a large envelope.. invited to admitted students' open house April 6

BC: Small white envelope saying I was priority listed... Um, I don't know who they think they are!

BU: Small envelope.... Can someone tell me why i'm getting waitlisted everywhere? Maybe because of no work experience??

Northwestern: Email telling me to check my status online... downloaded the waitlist letter telling me to send in any addt'l information or schedule an interview.. no letter will be sent... must reply before 4/15 or i'm off the WL

AM I THE PERFECT WAITLIST CANDIDATE OR WHAT??

Northeastern: Notified via email

GW: Notified via email that I was accepted and would be getting an admission package soon... They gave me $10,000 per year President Merit Scholar

I asked Fordham to match the offer but they only gave me $7500 per year guaranteed

Same numbers

I have very similar numbers to you and have applied to similar schools. I have only received one decision so far -- Acceptance to Duke! At least there's one. Good luck.

wow yeah our numbers are really close.. i just got accepted into fordham... so far so good.. so impatient right now! thanks, good luck to you too!

no doubt

I know how the impatience goes. You just want to know one way or the other. I applied to the part time at Georgetown. I considered it a "safety" school since the part time program is relatively easy to get into. But, I'm not sure about going PT. It seems like FT would work a lot better.

Haha. That was my response to BC, too.

waitlists

The waitlists are the murkiest part of law school admissions. I really don't understand how schools discern, but it's plenty discouraging.

I had the BC shock too. They must be yield-protecting; they are passing out WLs to people who got Accepts from better schools. If your top schools were NYU, Columbia, and (ew) Gtown, then it seems you'd like Fordhman and GWU better than BC anyway....

At this point, I would hire one of those admissions services to help you write the most compelling letter ever. Sounds like they WANT to admit you at Northwestern.

NW

Was that a hold letter at NW? Then it's not a waitlist. It's more like a deferral. Take the interview and join us!

Admissions Consulting

You pay like $300 and get an admissions expert. I did it b/c I've been out of school for so long, and nobody in my family has ever been to grad school, so i felt like i was out-of-the-loop with the whole admissions thing. I went with Kaplan, and they gave me the asst. dean at Loyola Law School. He was AWESOME. Give me your email and I'll forward you his info.

I think you will definitely get into Cornell. I've been checking out housing in Ithica; I found a 2-bedroom house on the lake with a private dock & use of a canoe for... (drum roll)... $700! Furnished. Thats's less than I pay for my shoebox room in the Bay Area.

Congrats on G Dubs

Just wanted to congratulate you on GW. Also, waitlists tend to suck --- at life. Here's hoping your nasty waitlists enter an admissions cocoon and emerge as beautiful butterflies of law school acceptance. I know, "wow, what an incredibly cheesy (or awful) metaphor!".... And you're right. Still, here's to randomness, and all the best to you in the rest of the admissions game.
