Additional info & updates

I find this website to be very helpful, and so I will try to update my page as consistently as possible, hopefully those with similar numbers/ background will find it helpful!

***2017/2-18***
-took 09/16 lsat
-registered 12/02 just in case...
-Sept. scores back... yeah definitely retaking in December :(
-Visited some schools close to me, which I would definitely recommend. It helped to inform what I was actually looking for, and I reshaped part of my PS based on that
-Ended up not taking Dec LSAT, too soon for me
-Took Feb LSAT
-02/14: NYLS is holding app for February score.. :/
-Admitted to Suffolk via status checker, no email yet. According to the checker an official acceptance package/scholarship letter has been mailed
-In at UMass, via text message! Then email.. more information to come
-Waitlisted at Emory and thrilled! Thought it would be outright reject
-In at NYLS via email.. scholarship I believe is conditional
-Bye GT! Didn't take them long!
-Rejected from WM via email.. that one hurt
-Waitlisted at Drexel via checker... Im assuming its because I applied late. They only took 2 days to decide that so I am a bit confused and very frustrated truthfully
-Sent LOCIs to Emory and Drexel
-Rejected from WF via email, also encouraged to apply as transfer student
-Waitlisted and NU and may withdraw. They are notorious for having waitlist admits pay sticker
-4/17: Villanova file now under review...after a month they now begin to review? :/
-waitlisted at Villanova via email... longest application review out of all
-Last minute applications to Brooklyn and Hofstra after receiving emails calling for more applications. Not sure what will happen, but curious to see how may applications are treated
-05/08: Email from Northeastern asking if I would still like to be on waitlist.. maybe they'll be activating that soon?
-06/08: Another Northeastern waitlist email...
-07/10: Northeastern feeler #3...
-07/18: As of now I will be retaking and reapplying. I was so naive in underestimating the importance of the LSAT. Unless there is waitlist movement for me, I will be trying again
-07/30: Final Northeastern feeler (#4)
-08/28: Rejected from NEU and with that on to the next cycle

My biggest take away from this cycle is that there are no surprises. This is a numbers game. If you play the game you will win. If your numbers are not on par with a school you will not get in. Pretend softs don't exist. Focus on the LSAT and your GPA.

********2018-2019 CYCLE***********
-1st thing is putting together a new school list, not planning to apply to any of the old schools. Only applying to schools I would genuinely attend this time
-Taking LSAT again in November
-American holding for November score (I did not ask them to)
-Syracuse asked if I want my app held for November. I said no I would like it reviewed
-Maryland also asked if I would like app held. Because I am a little below their numbers I chose to have this app held. Appreciate that both schools asked
- Tulane: 'In Review' 10/2
-'On hold' at Miami 10/24
-Under 'Final Review' at Kent via checker 11/6
-UNH: "In Review" 11/7
-Rutgers: "Ready for review" 11/8
-Syracuse : "In Review" 11/8
-Waitlisted at Kent and really irritated. My numbers are in range and I wrote a 'why Kent'. I thought this would be a safety. I'm honestly confused
-Decided to reapply to Suffolk, admitted one day after going complete with same scholly. I did not change my app.
-Admitted to Syracuse!! Love that school, will definitely try to negotiate for more $$
-12/06: Interview request from Wash U! Im so happy, didnt think they would even look at my app lol
-Accepted to Rutgers via email! Another school I love, but the scholarship is not very strong sadly
-Forgot to update: waitlisted at UConn 12/19
-Straight up rejected from Maryland. BTW they dont send rejections via email but by status checker and snail mail
-Denied at UNH! Thats a shocker, not even waitlist
-Wow! In at Cardozo! I don't think I got $ however, but will try to negotiate
-Waitlist at Tulane. Dont feel strongly either way
-Waitlist from American. Ive been waiting for a decision for forever lol. However I will be withdrawing
-Waitlist from WUSTL! Disappointed but still proud, 18th best school in the nation! I think my cycle is pretty much over :)

Thank you for sharing all of this! If you don't mind me asking, what was wrong with Suffolk? Suffolk is one of my top choices right now, but I can't say that I know a TON about the school. Any insight would be extremely helpful!

Suffolk

@lawandliberty First were personal reasons. I visited twice after being admitted and I just did not vibe with the school. I had a gut feeling like it was not the right fit for me. Another reason is I'm interested in getting a joint MPH and they don't offer that. Finally, the reps emphasized their good placement in Boston, but I'm not sure I want to live in Boston anymore. Also, their employment rates and bar passage rates scared me away. I encourage you to check out lstreports.com/schools/suffolk. Best of luck and please lmk if you have other questions!

Hi! I cam across your comments here down below and wanna thank you as it was so informative. Thanks for walking us through your application process. Curious to know, for your 2nd cycle, did you end up getting a higher LSAT score? Did you apply with the 153 as listed in your PF?

Saturday, January 05 2019 at 12:54 PM

Did you apply to May or regular decision for Cardozo? Also congrats!!!

Saturday, June 03 2017 at 11:46 AM

@emolawschooler Thank You! Fall entry

Saturday, January 26 2019 at 09:02 PM

Hey! When you reapplied did you write a new personal statement or submit the same one?

Saturday, June 03 2017 at 11:46 AM

@gmb2018 Well, I didn't apply to any of the same schools so I didn't have to change anything at all. The only exception was Suffolk where I submitted the same app after speaking with my admissions rep and she said it would be fine b/c I was previously accepted

Cardozo

Wow congrats on Cardozo!! That's my top school so I hope I hear the same news you did!

Cardozo

@PaulS95 Thank you so much! Best of luck to you

Friday, May 04 2018 at 02:13 AM

Any luck with your negotiations at Cardozo?

Saturday, June 03 2017 at 11:46 AM

@Dz123 I just sent my email this weekend after visiting last week, so Ill update! Truthfully, I did not fall in love when I visited but its a great school!

Friday, May 04 2018 at 02:13 AM

I visited last week also haha. I'm curious about what they say. Where are you leaning as of now?

Saturday, June 03 2017 at 11:46 AM

@Dz123 How did you like it? Just heard back from them, no scholarship but they upped my need based aid to cover half tuition so they definitely negotiate! I also visited Rutgers and loved the campus and the students seemed friendlier to me personally

Friday, May 04 2018 at 02:13 AM

@beantowngal I actually liked it quite a bit. They also gave me half off in need-based aid, still a bit expensive for my liking though. Well, if you're going to Rutgers congrats and good luck!
