I know alot of northerners wouldn't consider it, but it's a school that I have always dreamed of attending. My Dad worked in a program where he worked in Knoxville for two months, work home for four, and alternated again. We would go and visit him, and I LOVED Knoxville; and whenever he came home he would bring us VOLS clothes! It's making more sense for me now as I am considering the things that are important to me in choosing a school. Knoxville has a modest standard of living, good football town feeling, and southern charm in an up and coming city. UT seems to place well in the surrounding markets, but also seems to place well if I wanted to stay in Tennessee (which I am strongly considering). There is so much more I could say but I'm sure you know more than I do about the school and the city! Sorry this is such a long post. Good luck to you, I'm sure you will have no problem getting into any school you choose!
Congrats on Tennessee! I'm visiting in mid-February, hopefully I will make a good enough impression to curb my numbers!
I do have better things to do, I swear. Do you think I will have a better chance of getting in by visiting or should I just wait and see? My gut tells me to go there but its money, time, etc. wasted if I won't get in either way. I'm sure you have gotten into Georgetown and congrats on UVa...that would be my top choice in the T14. Haha, it looks as if I'm your biggest fan! :)
That's exciting about UVa- congrats! I hope I hear from them soon as well. I'm confident that you'll be getting good news from Georgetown soon- good luck with the rest of the application process and I'll definitely be keeping watch to see how well we do in this cycle :)
Congrats on the acceptances. I've got virtually the same profile (including the liberal arts psych degree), but am a northeasterner (hence our different school choices). I'm still waiting for the UVA letter in the mail (overseas mail :-/ )

Your question back at you: top choice so far? Mind my asking where you went for undergrad?
...on Duke! :)
...so, I decided that whether or not I wind up in Tennessee, you are going to have to be my sugar daddy. I have it all worked out; you go to UVa or Duke (you're too nice for Georgetown and Vandy, too good for Cornell/Emory...and as much as I want you to go to TN, you would be selling yourself short). I'll hold down the fort, visit with your family in Tennessee, and you remember who helped you through the app. process on LSN! :) Seriously, with your numbers and choices, not to mention sparkling personality, I will be astonished if you don't have a million job offers pending when you graduate. Ok, its settled then. I will still hold out for TN either way. :)
Yea, just got the letter as I was walking out the door today. I'm pretty bummed, and I must say that this rejection stung the worst. But, Wayne is a really good school in Michigan and I know that I will have alot of opportunity here. Also, I know it will be damn near impossible, but I can always try to transfer my second year. I can always retire in Tennessee! Anyways, about Vandy...from the perception I have gotten (LSD, working in the legal industry, some friends who know people from Vandy, etc.) it seems Vandy is your typical bitterly-enraged-sorry-we-aren't-considered-Ivy-private school. You know, out to prove something and will go to great lengths to do it? I know its not nearly as cutthroat as Georgetown but I hear its not the place to find your new best friend. or helpful classmates. Don't base your decision on any of this because it could be great...but this is just the general perception I have gotten.
I have looked there. If nothing else it will be my backup, but I am a little concerned about the cost (trying to be extra tight being I'll be an out of state student). My host also told me I guess its fire alarm prank hell...which I am 24 now and way to old for that bullshit if you know what I mean... Congrats if you end up at UVa. My ex-gf goes to school there and I always looked forward to my trips to Charlottesville. Awesome town...
on some great acceptances -- UVA and Cornell are great choices. Don't forget to withdraw, though, from whichever one you choose NOT to attend -- to help out the rest of us! (I'm on reserve at Cornell...)
