Hey, just wanted to say good luck. We're applying to a lot of the same schools. Did you go to U of M Dearborn by any chance?
Yep, I actually graduated from U of M Dearborn in June. I am only applying part-time because I want to keep working where I\\\'m at and also since I\\\'ve been working full-time for about 6 years now and taking classes in the evening and I don\\\'t think I would be happy making the transition to a full-time day program
No, I'm in the 'burbs, and I don't work for a firm. My job is more technical in nature, but involves assisting law enforcement agencies with criminal investigations involving Internet usage. Do you post on the LSD board at all? If you get a chance, PM me over there...my user name is the same as it is here.
I am from Tennessee, and want to stay around so I only applied to those three in state schools. Originally Vandy was my first choice but I don't see myself as having a terribly good, realistic shot of getting in there. Knoxville is beautiful and a really nice city to live in. I definitely would rather go there than Memphis. If I get in both there and Vandy it will be a tough decision, but if not, it is UT all the way.
Just a simple email saying the usual "I am complete and they will let me know as soon as a decision has been made" stuff.
Just a simple email saying the usual "I am complete and they will let me know as soon as a decision has been made" stuff.
Good luck on your aps. We are applying to several of the same schools!
you too!! Doesn\\\'t that first acceptance just make you feel so much better. Regardless of the others I know FSU is a good school and one at the rise at that. I see one of your 2nd choices is my first--Univ of Tennessee. If last year is any indication I have a feeling we\\\'ll be waiting into March for those :( Nonetheless good luck, drop me a line if you get any great news.
sorry for the confusion. It just seems as though other people in our LSAT score range didn\\\'t get a decision from UT until late February and March....
Congrats on DCL : )
I think we did the best we could by getting our applications in early. Im hoping maybe to get an acceptance in January...
...on your MI State acceptance! It is always good to know that you are accepted at at least one school!
yep...so far so good...our numbers are so similar, I wouldn't be surprised if your DePaul letter is in the mail...good luck : )
thanks, good luck to you too, I go to Loyola for undergrad, so if you have any questions, i can try and help
yeah very similar numbers, although you have way more experience and extracurriculars than me. best of luck to you.
We have the same LSAT and GPA and happen to be applying to the same school--although i'm applying to Duke, Vanderbilt (which i got a fee waiver to) and Temple too. I'll be looking out to see how you fare--good luck :)!
Good luck with UTK. Knoxville is a beautiful city. Anywhere else I get in will just be icing on the cake. Acceptances to Wake or Vandy would make the decision a little more difficult. Hope tosee you in Knoxville in the fall!
for your kind words--i'll keep you posted. I think being a NC resident helps my chances at UNC too--since they are mandated by the state to have at least 75% of their class be residents. I'm not quite as hopeful for Duke :)
I think i marked the box for University Park, thats where I got in, if I go there I dont know if Ill go to that campus, from what I hear if you get picked for Univeristy Park, you can choose to go to the other campus
I applied in late oct heard last friday via email
Good luck to you as well. Hope you get in at FSU soon.
Sorry to hear about Loyola...I know they were one of your top picks...I have a feeling that you will be very competitive at Kent though...
Thanks! Congrats to you too. : )
...on Wayne State! Now I am waiting by the mailbox for my letter!
Sorry about the delayed response. I'm in-state, so I'm sure that helped. I also have a master's degree and many years of work experience post-graduate. But ultimately, I think it's simply a matter of the right numbers and being in-state. My impression from the whole process is that it's really about the numbers and everything else only matters if your numbers are really close.
Hey whats up? I have lived in Knoxville my whole life and go to a small University in Indiana. I'm applying to UTK as well and am curious about why you decided to apply there? I only ask cause a lot of people up north in my experience wouldn't consider UT. I think it should be way up on your list. It is a wonderful place. Good luck with your app and let me know if you have any questions about the school.
Hey Leishie, Sorry to hear about Loyola but at least you've got a few good ones in your pocket... start relaxing a bit.
Haha, thanks...It's good to have an option in Chicago like Loyola...although if they knew where I really got my name from, they might not have admitted me... ; )
did you get any scholarship info from MSU? Do you know when they will let you know
MSU law school is actually really great...the only reason I'm not applying there is because I need a change of scenery from undergrad. I don't know much about grad housing, but there are a lot of nice/new furnished apartments near the corner of lake lansing road and abbott road where I know a lot of grad students live. Good luck on your apps!
Do you know anything about scholarship at Wayne State?
Was that from last year's cycle? What cycle was/is this from? Thanks!
really does suck because at least with the LSAT you had a cutoff date for waiting. Some schools could leave us for months and months.
I just want everyone to know that I could not have done it on my own... I would not be the 9th place loser without the help of my friends, family and those who have a voyeurist tendency to need to know how others are doing on their aps.
...Congrats again on MSU and Wayne State
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Thanks for your congratulations. I was very excited to get in there. From what I can tell they will love you when they meet you in person. I doubt you will have any problem getting in. At least I hope not because thus far you are the first and only person posting on my profile. Anyway, I want to again say that if there is anything I can do to help or tell you please let me know. Have a good one.
I actually think visiting would be a good idea. You sound like you are very excited about Tennessee and contributing to their program. I know that they appreciate that they appreciate that kind of energy. I also know that the Director of Admissions is particularly fond of Greeks and I notice that you were in a sorority. If you held any leadership positions it would be good to mention those. I think that they will want to see that you can interact well with others. Additionally, they might have a harder time rejecting a qualified candidate who took a chance and visited all the way from Michigan. I really think you have a good shot at this, especially because Tennessee needs to build its reputation in the north.
Waiting sucks! I compulsively check the mail and my email even though I am probably not getting anything for a while. Anyways just wanted to wish you good luck. We have the same index at a lot of schools, and I can't decide if I would rather have the high gpa and good lsat score, or higher lsat and lower gpa. Right now I really like UNLV, as I don't think I will get into the other schools. Good luck again.
...For the congrats on Penn State. That was quite a write up you did on Penn State. I am a little nervous about the two campus thing, especially with the Carlisle campus starting renovations. I am surprised that you have not heard back from
...and hit submit before finishing. As I was saying, I am surprised that you have not heard back from Pitt or Penn yet. Good Luck!
thanks for the message and congrats. i feel very lucky in this admissions process. good luck with all of your applications! i'm crossing my fingers for you that you get int o a school that you would "KILL" to go to :) and for the record, i totally agree- waiting around is much worse than studying for the LSAT. at least with studying, there's something productive you can do- right now, you have no control at all, and thats the worst feeling.
Im pretty much ready to sign the dotted line to UT...good luck w/ the rest of yours.
Nothing is certain at this point...I think I'm going to take a weekend trip to Chicago in a few weeks since I got into all three schools there...but if I had to guess, I'd say I'll probably just stay in Michigan and attend Wayne
Congratulations to you too on your acceptances. Being from Chicago, Kent is high on my list right now. That, hopefully, will change.
I go to M.S.U. How about you? Good luck with your aps as well and go green
There were a few reasons why I didnt apply to msu. Mostly b/c I am looking for a change of pace and wayne can offer me as much as M.S.U. at a lower price
Congrats on your acceptance at Penn State! Did you get accepted at the College Park or the Carlisle campus?
Does this mean you will be going there over Wayne
Hey, I just wanted to say I hope you get into UTK. I was wondering if you could tell me more about your impressions of the school. I'm in a serious debate between them and more expensive Wake Forest with no scholarship, and thought you might be able to help. Anyway, again, good luck!
I was like you and declined to check to be part of the UP class - Dickinson is not Dickinson without Trickett Hall! Good luck with the rest of your apps.
...Well, whatever. I am not sure why you would want to send out more aps, unless you really want to attend syracuse over your other admits. Take if from me (who sent out 29 aps), unless you are being dinged from all your aps, any follow-on applications are done more out of nervousness than actual desire to attend. You have a couple of solid admints. Be patient. More will come. Best of luck and I hope your singles day was...a singular sensation. v/r
Check yer LSD inbox :D
hehe...better rest now sleepy head...law school is going to have you up at all hours of the night...actually I think the timestamp is a little off for some reason...I typed that closer to 10:00am, and I'm typing this at 9:44am :P
...any luck finding out about FA?
I am considering MSU, it's in the middle of my list. I really think MSU has HUGE potential for growth, given that the University of Michigan is not the school that turns out lawyers for the state of Michigan anymore. Good luck to you too!
Well, if you should decide to go to Penn State, you'll have to carry the torch for me, because I just got waitlisted. I'm disappointed, as PSU was by far my top choice, but still a glimmer of hope exists in that maybe - just maybe - I will get an offer of admission. Good luck with the rest of your pending applications - I'm pulling for you!
Thanks for your nice congratulatory message about Duke. I really appreciate it. I can't wait till I can say the same to you about UTK.
so much for the encouraging words. You're right, its not a rejection. I hope you get in to UTK at any rate, since it is your first choice. I hope everything works out for you. Good luck.
for UT. I'd like for you to join me in Knoxvile next year. I think Pepperdine would be so much fun (then again--law school is supposed to be beyond fun--and more into the real world). However, since you are from MI I can see why the others are a draw. I'd go with your heart.... Also, since you could say your my "best friend at law school numbers" would you read my comment on Ole Miss. I receive a recent comment about my "attitude." Interested in a 2nd opinion, to see whether Im full of shit or not...
Good luck with UT. Whatever happens, you've been accepted at some great schools and should be applauded for your hard work.
Hey Wayne sent a letter to my permanent address about a month after I recieved my acceptance offering me a dean's scholarship worth 50% of tuition. As far as pepperdine goes, I think its a good school obviously in a great location but I have two reserves about attending. First is cost (particularily cost of living), and second is that even though pepperdine is a good school, California has many other schools with arguably better reputations, and the job market out west is dominated by those schools. Good Luck in the process and in your decision
Congrats on Pepperdine! That is a really good school with needless to say an amazing atmosphere. I thought about applying there just because it looked so cool. I know the waiting game is tough for UTK (I've got a similar situation with a couple of my schools) but I think you have a great shot at it. Hopefully, they will let you know sooner rather than later so you won't have to send any deposits to other schools. Thanks for the nice message you left me the other day. Out of curiosity, have you really heard that Vanderbilt has a harsh environment? Wasn't quite sure what you meant by that, so yea if you can provide any more information please let me know. Take it easy.
I am sorry about your news from UTK. I know you were really wanting an acceptance and I think they should have given you one. You have some very interesting and strong EC's and come from a great undergraduate school. I know it's harder to get in from out of state and that definately sucks in your case. I'm sure that if you were a resident you would be in. All the same, you have some wonderful options on the table. I think Wayne State will be lucky to have you.
Hi there, sorry about the delayed reply (I was out of town). I got a letter through from Wayne that had an offer of $5K for one year, non-renewable. This arrived the day after I'd e-mailed them to withdraw my spot. Strangely, I also received a packet for the admitted students day a couple of days ago. So, I hope they got my e-mail! Good luck to you. Maybe they will pass my $$ on to you. :)
I know exactly what you mean about there being so much good and so much bad about pepp. I would go there in a heartbeat except for the mind blowing debt that I would have to take out. I called them today and they told me the average debt for their graduates is 140k!!! I'm trying to decide if I should go there or settle for a less expensive second best. Have you made any decisions yet?
hey congrats on the acceptances, but hey if your not planning to attend penn state, could you please withdraw your application so us waitlisters have a shot...lol thanks!
Sorry to hear about your UT rejection. Im assuming based on your profile that you are going to Wayne State. Congrats on your decision and just remember a school can only carry you so far....
The scholarship notification came in the same letter as the acceptance. Both came sometime within the last week and I sent my application right about the same time as you... I hope that helps
FSU Law probably not as much, but we have a very genetically gifted student body for the Ugrad :) I'm sure your great personality and smarts will more then make up for it
Hey Leishie, were you at Wayne's admitted students day last Thursday? Was the first time I got to see all the facilities, such as the library and student lounge areas...I thought they were all pretty good...looks like I will be there this fall as well
Sounds like a court case...Anyway, other than the costs, what is so bad about Pepperdine? I've visited both schools and, while both were nice, I liked Pepperdine better. The students at UOP told me their neative experiences with book and notes stealing. They also didn't seem too happy. Also, UOP is generally a T3 school. This year they went up, but they are boarder line. They could likely return to the T3 spot. However, the professors seemed helpful and nice, and the scholarship is tempting. Pepperdine students, on the other hand, did seem happy. Plus, Pepp's joint degree MDR/JD is rated very highly. And, they have been a solid T2 school for the past few years. So, I'm pretty sure I'll shell out the extra $. UOP would be way less expensive but (I think) Pepp is the better school. Anyway, it seems like you heard some bad things about Pepp. Am I missing something?
Yeah, same boat as you...got my fin aid offer but no scholarship info, but I don't really expect to get $$$ from them with my #s...plus I'm in the evening program and for some rason they throw very little money our way :P
Send me an email and I will try to answer your question.
just wanted to let you know i paid my seat deposit at wayne yesterday...so if you do the same I will most likely see you there in August =)
i sent in one additional letter of rec when i was deferred from a chicago-kent law grad, didn't seem to have hurt at all! good luck to you :)
Thank you! I received a letter through snail mail. It was in a larger envelope (6.5"x9.5") but wasn't a big fat packet. It had the acceptance letter, a financial aid information packet, and an application for need-based scholarships.
I haven't changed anything to get off the Kent waitlist. I'm already out of undergrad, so no new grades; haven't sent anything more in. I was waitlisted for the day division, then I asked to be considered for evening also, which is what I was accepted into.
Hi, I found out via int'l express mail (I'm overseas right now.) toward the end of Feb. I had to make a decision by April 1. See you in the fall, if that's what you decide!
Hey, just wanted to say good luck. We're applying to a lot of the same schools. Did you go to U of M Dearborn by any chance?
