Northwestern told me to get lost, so I am deciding between Chicago-Kent and Illinois. I would like to practice IP law in Chicago. Any suggestions are welcome...

Thank you to everyone for the advice and support. Good luck to all.

Accepted offer from Kent and moving to Chicago in June!

Thanks a lot. I am dreaming of living in Chicago, but I don't know if I have a chance at Northwestern

Did you get that scholarship offer with your acceptance letter?

No. I called to ask a housing question and they told me.

UIUC

If you want to practice IP law in Chicago UIUC is going to give you far more opportunities than Kent. Not that you cannot get IP jobs from Kent, but in order to do it at a big firm in Chicago you will need to be in a much higher percentile of your class (I have heard either top 5 or 10%), I just went to the UIUC open house this weekend and talked to several 3Ls that had already landed IP jobs in Chicago. If you have not been to the UIUC open house and have any questions about it feel free to ask. Congrats on your acceptances and I hope to see you at UIUC in the fall!

Urbana

Just to chime in on Urbana, its not the coolest place to live on earth, but there are a surprising number of bars, restaurants and cultural events. The fact that Urbana is not a huge city also makes the law school community very close and makes the professors very accesible. Another plusis the cost of living is dirt cheap and if you really need to get out for a weekend, Chicago is only about 2 hours away. Sorry to keep pitching UIUC, but I was very inpressed with the open house and would highly recommend the school to anyone that gets in and wants to go to Chicago.
