Additional info & updates

11-10-06: Received email from Toby Stock @ Harvard letting me know that he would call. Wondering if this is a good sign, a bad sign, or neither.

11-13-06: Received letter of admission from GULC in a thin envelope sealed on the back a with handwritten note on the bottom. I'll be able to go to law school somewhere!

11-14-06: Phone call from Toby Stock @ Harvard. He was very nice and enthusiastic about HLS and asked questions of general scope about my resume and course work.

11-22-06: In at Harvard! Phone call from Toby Stock welcoming me to the class of '10.

1-11-07: In at UVA! Letter in thin cream envelope mentioned Dean's Scholarship (~1/2 tuition). UVA is current front-runner, especially if scholarship is on higher end of range. Will withdraw from GULC.

1-31-07: Attempt to withdraw from GULC unsuccessful; received an request to apply for full tuition Dean's Scholarship in the mail. Will apply, assuming they don't suddenly realize that I tried to withdraw.

2-15-07: Decided not to apply for GULC Dean's Scholarship after learning that competition is stiff even among those invited to apply. Now waiting to hear amount of Dean's Scholarship from UVA. If it is enough to let me graduate with no debt (assuming wife's earnings and summer associateships), UVA will get serious consideration. Not enthused about graduating $180K in debt, even for Harvard. I'm not sure that's an investment that will pay off, compared to UVA.

4-26-07: Withdrew from HLS and sent acceptance to UVA. We have a beautiful apartment in a beautiful town with a great law school that everyone loves. Looking forward to meeting everyone this August!

Did the email Toby Stock sent you say that he wanted to ask a few questions about your application? I just got my email today and although he says it isn't about problems or gaps I am now very nervous about what he will be asking me about. Let me know if you have a chance

Damn.

You are obviously a freak of nature with those numbers and just applying to those 3 schools... But you are also a fellow Wahoo, so I give props!

Yeah, I intended to apply to Duke too, but I realized I didn't want to live in Durham. I have no interest in living in NYC, Chicago, or Philly, so there went the rest of the T6. Let us not even speak of New Haven.

great acceptances
