Chapter Man of the Year

Awarded National Award for being one of the top 7
scholar/leaders in the national fraternity
(approximately 6000 undergrad students).

Interfraternity Council President
Greek Man of the Year

Dean's List every semester

Student Activity Budget Review Committee

Student Advisory Council

Co-taught a 100 level class.

Peer Mentor/faciliator for a Leadership Camp

Planned Leadership Training Conference for approximately 60 students.

On committee with faculty to develop a new center of excellence in partnership with a government program.

Attended a conference on ethics in america hosted by West Point.

Some Honors Societies including: Phi Kappa Phi, Order of Omega, Omicron Delta Kappa.

I currently work at a law firm as a runner.

Contributed Research to a professional presentation/Publication.

2 LOR's deal with EC's and leadership while maintaining academic success 1 deals with purely academic performance. A final is a weak letter dealing with academic performance. I will send both academic letters and one EC letter to each school that I apply to.

Personal Statement isn't anything special at all.

Diversity statement is ok for a white middle class kid.

Why Penn deals mostly with the various programs I like Statement of purpose talks about interest in appel-lit, pub policy, and corporate law and ties them together.

Why NW is about location, job placement, and corperate training.

Why Mich is about cross-dis approach and some programs that interest me.

Wrote seperate PS and DS for Boalt.

Stanford is an expanded DS

I wrote a school specific essay for duke that is similar to my SOP that I gave to LOR writers and then expanded to be Duke specific.

I spoke with my pre law advisor and he said that all the Ivys (including Cornell) were a stretch along with Chicago and a few others. I hope he is wrong. UPDATE: Guess he was wrong.

Sent Date: Date I finished with the Application on LSAC and clicked "Checkout" the final time

Received: The date the school ordered my report from LSDAS or contacted me to inform me they received my application.

Complete: When the school contacted me to tell me my package was complete.

Decision: When I found out.

Scholarship awards represent three year totals.

Freak Out Alert: I just realized I sent every school asking for a diversity statement a diversity statement that had a typo in the last paragraph. Any chance they will be skimming by that point?

Harvard: Please please please let me in. I would pick you over those other schools in New Haven and Palo Alto in a second.

10-20-06: Complete at Duke. This means I should have a decision by the first week of November. Hopefully its an accept and I can rest easy knowing I can go to a top law school.

10-25-06: I was bored today so I started calling schools that I thought I should be complete at. I have no idea when I went complete at IU-B, but today I found out for sure so that is the date I will use. Also IU said they aren't issuing decisions till the end of January, I wonder how true that will be. Notre Dame also said I was complete.

10-27-06: This morning I received an email from the director of admissions at Duke informing me that they had mailed my admissions decision. This Priority Track program is awsome, had I not slacked off I would have had a decision by the end of October. It makes me feel greedy and want all my decisions sooner. Hopefully this one will be a good one!

10-30-06: Accepted to Duke today, details to follow.

11-3-06: Received the email from Toby Stock saying he wanted to call about my application.

11-8-06: Received a phone call from Toby Stock, Director of Admissions at Harvard law school. He asked what I am doing this semester and clarified some things on my resume. I don't think it went that well. We shall see!

11-10-06: GULC Letter today. A plain creame envelope with Georgetown on the top left and a neat seal on the bac.

10-18-06: Status checker at Michigan changed to "decision"

11-20-06: Received (and missed) a phone call from Boalt Hall today. Called back and was informed of my admission. They also sent an email to follow up offering to pay up to $350 of a plane ticket.

11-21-06: Accepted at Michigan. Large white envelop with a CD, Postcard, letter from the dean, file folder, and administrative paperwork.

11-21-06: More importantly, at 1:45 today I received a call from Toby Stock from Harvard admitting me into the HLS class of 2010! I didn't answer the phone but he left a messege saying materials were on the way.

12-9-06: Harvard acceptance packet and 3 DVD's came, Cornell notified me of my acceptance by mail along with an opportunity to apply for the deans scholarship, and Duke law school sent me notification of selection for their dean's scholarship as well.

12-19-06: Accepted by Penn, notified with a phone call from the director or recruitment, no mention of money said follow up information would be mailed and emailed.

12-19-06: Notified of admission to Notre Dame by email, said they would be mailing an admissions packet. I will be interested to see if there is a fellowship offer. If there isn't I may withdrawl.

12-23-06: ND package in the mail including a 20K/year fellowship assistance offer.

1-1-07: Got back to school, checked my mail and received an acceptance package from IU-Bloomington with a 46K scholarship offer contingent on maintaining standing in the top third of the class.

1-06-07: Letter from UIUC received in a big envelope, offer of a full tuition scholarship.

1-12-07: Letter from U Va notifying me of acceptance and consideration for dean's scholarship, stated I will find out about scholarships in March.

1-19-07: Phone call from University of Chicago asking me to call them back. I missed the call and plan on returning it monday.

1-22-07: Received a letter in a standard white envelope from the University of Chicago, notifying me of admission. The letter does not mention money.

1-24-07: Notified of acceptance via email, also informed that I will be notified by the scholarship committee in early February.

1-27-07: Schools continue to actually send decisions! Received a package from Columbia containing information about the school in a folder with an acceptance letter on top.

1-30-07: Received a scholarship offer and notification of acceptance from Northwestern. The terms: 40K/year if I defer until next year and spend the year gaining professional experience.

2-5-07: Received offer to apply for the Dean's scholarship at GULC, too little too late.

Harvard it is!

That's what I'm shooting for! Good luck!

Hello from a fellow Illinoian

Good luck writing your PS. Doesn't look like there is anything else in your app that needs work. It looks like you will have your pick of the litter.

Great numbers
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

I was surprised to see U of Chicago so high on your list until I saw your location. Best of luck with HYS

pre-law advisor
Friday, June 16 2006 at 08:00 PM

There is no way that you won't get in at cornell. Your numbers are high for them. Also I would say you have a better shot than most at HYS so don't worry

look at those effen ecs man. wtf mate?

Right back at ya.
Saturday, September 17 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks. I do, however, wish I had your numbers rather than mine. Those two LSAT points could make a big difference for admission to Harvard and possibly Yale. I'm sure we'll both end up at places that we want to be through. Thanks again for your comment. Take care.

Your pre-law advisor...
Monday, May 01 2006 at 08:00 PM

...sounds like an idiot. You have great numbers and you stand an excellent chance at pretty much every school. Good luck again!

Nice Numbers!
Saturday, September 30 2006 at 08:00 PM

Your profile looks so strong. I am just looking into the process and waiting on my LSAT score...I took it last week...and would love if you could share any info on your fee waivers. How do I go about looking into those?

nice
Monday, July 10 2006 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on getting almost all your apps done. In a couple days, you can join the ever-exciting Waiting Forever Club.

Thanks
Saturday, June 24 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm sure you will hear something from Duke very soon. Did they give you the priority track?

NW
Tuesday, August 22 2006 at 08:00 PM

I'm going to apply to NU, sans interview. With my split, though, an (optional) interview may have helped a little bit. I think it might be worth $12 just to see what happens, though...

Re: good luck
Saturday, January 21 2006 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I think Harvard would be crazy to not want you.

nice work
Saturday, February 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

i bet it's nice to get that first one out of the way. it should be a fun few months as the acceptances roll in. - Bucky

Awesome Job

"I spoke with my pre law advisor and he said that all the Ivys (including Cornell) were a stretch along with Chicago and a few others. I hope he is wrong." seriously, tell your school to fire that dude congrats!

congrats on all your wonderful acceptances; you really are rocking this cycle!

Why Keep So Many Active
Thursday, May 18 2006 at 08:00 PM

I was never big on the New York Schools. Columbia waived my fee so I applied, but NYU was not so kind. As for the long list, I figure I paid for a decision, so I want one!

ND
Thursday, October 19 2006 at 08:00 PM

woooo
Monday, June 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

dude, you're tearing it UP

hard to say
Monday, June 12 2006 at 08:00 PM

I visited Georgetown and really liked it, but I haven't seen their financial aid package. BU made a big splash with 30k/year, so that is very enticing. I assume I could get similar money from BC, which would put them back into the picture as well. I'd say those are my top three at the moment. I'm still waiting on Michigan (again, not sure if I want to take on 120k+ in debt) and the aid packages from elsewhere. Do you think I'd be crazy to accept nearly full tuition from BU/BC over nothing at Georgetown? I'm from the Boston area, so staying in the area does have its perks. How about you? Is it down to Cambridge v. New Haven (potentially)?

great job
Thursday, January 04 2007 at 07:00 PM

hey great numbers and great acceptances. how did you study for the lsat and for how long? any advice for the lsat or the application process? thanks.

diversity?
Monday, April 16 2007 at 08:00 PM

What did you put on your diversity statement, if you don't mind my asking?
