Additional info & updates

11/2 - In at W&M via status checker. No word on $$$ until their letter comes in the next few days. Nice to be in somewhere.

11/26 - In at GW via snail mail :)

12/16 - The last week has brought acceptances from both Georgetown and GMU. DC's showing me a lot of love. Hope the rest of the country gets with it soon!

12/19 - Accepted at UVA! So excited!

12/29 - First rejection of the cycle at Chicago. Can't say I'm surprised.

01/06 - Accepted via email at UC-Irvine. Finally something from the West Coast.

01-16-12 - Rejected by UC-Berkley and Michigan, plus a waitlist from Penn. Virginia is looking better and better everyday.

02-10-12 - Lots of WLs and a few rejections coming in over the past month. Waiting is not fun anymore...I'd just like to know where I'm going for sure.

3-27-12 - Right now I'm down to deciding between UVA and Georgetown. GULC offered me a $35k a year combination need-based and merit-based scholarship and I'm hoping that UVA will offer me something in response. The waiting continues...

4-10-12 - And a waitlist from NYU officially ends the cycle for me. I'll be at UVA in the fall. So excited!

New Approach

Just got my October score back. 175! Better than expected, so I decided to take the shotgun approach with the T14 minus HYS. Hoping something sticks...

Impressive LSAT score for a Spanish major with that GPA. Any explanation?

My GPA is bad due to a couple of years of pre-med classes. So I have a strong upward trend. As far as the LSAT goes, I just put in a ton of time(250+ hours) and studied a variety of different books to make a personalized approach that worked best for me.

If there were some formula for my obtaining a scholarship, I'd definitely share it with you. I don't know if you're a VA resident, but that, in combination with my GPA extremes, helped me out. In my opinion, my work experience factored into scholarship considerations. I'm former DOS/DOD, and my former job was "played-up" in both my acceptance and scholarship letters. Look forward to seeing you this fall! -Chris

Congrats on Choosing UVA!!

Just wanted to say congrats on choosing UVA. I'm curious though. Did UVA give you a financial aid package comparable to GULC?

UVA actually hasn't given me anything yet. Only about $30k of my Georgetown Scholarship was merit based, so it wasn't as big of a bargaining chip with UVA as I had hoped. Supposedly they'll continue awarding scholarships into May, so we'll see what happens.
