Additional info & updates

Accepted date = date on letter of acceptance

*************************************************

12/09/05-My first acceptance! FSU letter came in a regular white envelope. That was quick! I was informed that I was complete on 12/02/05 and my acceptance letter was dated the same day!

12/10/05-I decided to send out a few more applications to some of the schools that sent me fee waivers. You never know.

12/19/05-Regular white envelope from Miami, dated 12-14-05. No mention of any $ yet.

12/20/05-Withdrawing from Miami. I've been less than impressed with their admissions staff. I also learned today that they don't give scholarships to part-time students. Would have been nice to know before I applied.

12/24/05-What a nice Christmas present! In at UF. Acceptance came in a large, thin, and very ominous looking envelope.

12/27/05-I'm 4 for 4 right now. In at Quinnipiac. Letter came in a regular sized envelope, dated 12/20/05.

12/31/05-A large envelope from Stetson with a large folder full of paperwork inside. Still no mention of money anywhere. I hope this changes soon or I might have to make alternate plans.

01/10/06-Woohoo! $25,000 per year from Qunnipiac.

01/12/06-Accepted at Barry with $13,500/year over 4 years. It's so tempting being that it is virtually a full ride and I would get to stay at home. I think I can do better, however.

01/19/06-Received a call from the Dean of Admissions at George Mason congratulating me on my acceptance. An acceptance packet will be mailed on Monday.

01/30/06-Received large envelope from Hofstra today with $20,000 a year honors scholarship. Good stuff.

02/01/06-In at Penn State. Large envelope with lots of information.

02/02/06-A call from a professor at FSU congratulating me on my acceptance. He said he'd looked over my undergrad record and was impressed. That's the second call I've gotten from FSU...it's pretty much down to them and UF now. It's all going to depend on who throws me the most money.

02/02/06-Got a nice t-shirt from Hofstra today! Too bad it's about 20 sizes too big. And FAMU just sent me the most unprofessional email. It was chock full of typos (including getting my name wrong), and at one point said, "In order to give you a better service, please DO NOT CALL ." Wow, that really makes me feel like they care.

02/06/06-Received a really nice folder today full of info from Ole Miss. I would LOVE to go to Ole Miss, lets hope they show me a little money to make it possible.

03/07/06-Was accepted into St. John's, but no mention of any money whatsoever. I'm more than disappointed by this. St. John's was my father's alma mater, and it was a bit of a dream to follow in the old man's footsteps. That's out of the question now without a scholarship.

03/09/06-Letter from Penn State offering me a Dean's Scholarship Award in the amount of $24,000 over three years.

03/14/06-Received an email from Baylor offering me a spot in the summer class, but waitlisting me for the fall class.

03/17/06-Acceptance letter from FAMU in a large envelope, no mention of any money. Huh? I guess that's the end of my cycle. Now I actually have to make my mind up and choose one. Baring any amazing scholarship offers from any of the other schools, it is down to the following schools: UF, FSU, Stetson (I've heard they give out great scholarship packages, so I'm crossing my fingers), and Ole Miss (holding out hope for a scholarship). I will be withdrawing from some of the others in the next few days.

03/18/06-I just withdrew from Miami, Penn State, Hofstra, Qunnipiac, and Baylor. I really hope it helps someone on a waiting list or waiting for a scholarship. And who knows, maybe karma will come around my way. I really need a scholarship to UF or FSU to make this law school thing work. If anyone who has been offered a scholarship to either school and is no longer interested in attending, I implore you to withdraw. If we all work together we can do great things.

03/27/06-Withdrew from St. John's and FAMU today via intent to enroll forms that were sent with admissions info. St. John's was a nice dream, but without any scholarship money it's time to come back to reality.

03/27/06-Last week I sent an email to FSU asking if there was any chance of a scholarship. Today I got an email directing me to look at my financial aid package. Along with the loans it showed I'm eligible for, there was a graduate grant in the amount of $500 a semester! It looks like my email might have worked. It's not much, but it is something. UF need to do better to win me over now.

04/09/06-Withdrew from GMU today. It was rather painful. Would have been a dream come true to go there, but it simply isn't in my budget.

04/12/06-I'm about 90% sure that it's going to be UF. The $1,000 from FSU just isn't enough to make me move to Tallahassee. It looks like Ole Miss and Stetson won't be showing me any money, so they're out. I'll be sending my seat deposit in the next few weeks barring any miracles from any of the other schools. Go Gators!

4/17/06-Just got accepted via email to Baylor despite withdrawing my application about a month ago.

04/17/06-Well that's it. The dirty deed is done. Just sent in my seat deposit to UF. I'll see everyone in Gainesville!

04/21/06-Dang. FSU just gave me another scholarship for $2,000 a year. This complicates things...

They give you plenty of time for deciding on the seat deposit, I think it's $200.

BTW

Good luck! I'm guessing as numbers twins we'll probably get similar results- I'm also surprised you're applying to as many lower-ranked schools, are you just hoping for $$$? You should def get in to T2's.

re Barry
Wednesday, December 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the vote of confidence re Barry. I received an acceptance from Vermont LS, which, I think, makes Barry irrelevant. Thoughts?

I wish to opine

You could have shot much higher re school ranking. Your numbers, combined with a legit PS, would be hard to deny.

GM
Wednesday, December 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Good luck with GM. I don't see you getting rejected from any of these schools with those numbers. GM is your toughest battle; but, I think you're in there too.

nova

you mean nova south eastern?? I applied there and am still waiting to hear from them. I applied in oct. If that is it, you might have missed the school in my long list. Good luck to u and thanks for the info, I actually didn't know that about Nova. Thanks again!

Nope. Not from UCF. What makes you think that? Congratulations on UF. Great school and real cheap.

Where I live now and where I went to college are two separate places. I graduated college 3 years ago. Thanks for the fingercrossing on UF. I need all the help I can get.

You might want to send some apps to some higher ranked schools. You never know plus so far you are batting a1000. Congrats and thanks for the info about FAMU.

Bushadvisor, Don't worry about it. I've seen your comments on several profiles since I registered here and figured it couldn't be you. Besides the person is using various names and is never logged in. Thank you, best wishes and much success in law school.

I am sorry to see that you have to monitor this whole damn site to find out where imposters are posting with your name. Of course you could be the one slamming people and later attributing the comments to "trolls". But that would be pointless. It is easier for me to believe that a person or people are trying to ascribe hateful positions and comments to bush supporters. Anyway, please forgive my stream-of-consciousness ranting. Congratulations on some high quality acceptances. I am surprised you didn't shoot even higher with your superior UGPA.

Any update on when FAMU will be sending out decisions? I didn't think they would be sending them out so soon. Let me know if you hear anything.

I didn't check the status checker- they sent me an email. Good luck.

apologies
Monday, February 20 2006 at 07:00 PM

I know this is going to sound insincire, and I do not expect your forgiveness but I think that I owe you an apology whether you will forgive me or not. I honestly cannot explain the motivation behind my previous post and looking back I am disgusted at myself for taking such actions. You deserve everything you have accomplished to this point and everything that you will certainly accomplish in the future. You have my sincerest apologies for the previous comments that I have made. Everything seems so distant on the internet, like you can write a comment and forget that it is going to an actual person. I am sorry that this realization came so late to me, and once again I am sorry for my past actions. Congratulation on the schools you have been admitted to and best of luck in all of your future endeavors.. I am ashamed at my actions and I promise you that I will not take such actions again (whether it is on your profile or on that of someone else). Once again, you have my sincerest apologies.

St. John's, etc.
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hi, I think St.John's definitely instituted a 160 LAT (or thereabouts) cutoff for scholarships...other LSN profiles overwhelmingly confirm this. It makes my decision much more difficult as their tuition is 33K. I feel I at least deserved some $$ from them. At this point, I am hoping, hoping that I get into Brooklyn Law. Good luck with all your apps...where are you leaning?

SJU
Thursday, December 29 2005 at 07:00 PM

BTW - with your numbers I really think you will be accepted to St. John's. As for scholarship...I think the data shows that may not happen...hopefully you will hear back from them soon.

St. John's
Friday, September 16 2005 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on St. John's. I'm sorry to hear about the lack of scholarship offer...given your numbers, you certainly deserve one. It sounds like you don't plan on attending without one though, so in the event that u choose not to go, please withdraw your application (i think most do it via email)...thanks. And good luck with the rest of the cycle! :)

FAMU
Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hello, just curious as to if you visited FAMU at all. I really want to visit now because my communication with them or should I say lack of communication with admissions has made me concerned.

FAMU
Monday, September 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

I'm surprised that you got a decision from FAMU already. I saw someone else post that and though it must be a joke, but I guess its not. What does it look like? Do you think you will attend, I know the tution is a sweet deal for residents. Do you live in Orlando also, because I'm curious why my mail always comes so late. Oh well, I think the mail lady knows I stalk her. LOL. Okay, write back if you can. Congrats.

penn state
Sunday, February 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey congrats on the acceptances, but hey if your not planning to attend penn state, could you please withdraw your application so us waitlisters have a shot...lol thanks!

thanks a bunch
Sunday, February 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

you have no idea how that helps all the waitlisted people....and me ofcourse...its just an uphill battle all the way!

FAMU
Monday, September 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

I just called FAMU today and found out that they give you more time to pay the seat deposit. April 1st is the deadline, but if you get a later acceptance letter than they will give you more time to pay the deposit. I think like 30 days is what the lady on the phone told me. Just helping out, still haven't gotten a letter from them. Thanks.

FAMU
Monday, September 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey congrats to you on your acceptances. I still have not hear anything from FAMU besides knowing that they are still working on sending out decisions. I wanted to ask your opinion if you think I have a shot at FAMU. I got rejected by FIU today and now getting a little nervous. I've still got a few options, but I think FAMU would be great for me because of its low tution costs being a floridian. I'm sure it will pass full accreditation also. What do you think about my situation?

Congrats

See you at UF in August!

UF vs. FSU
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey, I'm in a similar bind ($5000 at FSU vs. $0 at UF, but w/ free room/board) and was wondering what made you choose UF? Did they end up giving you $$?

UF vs. FSU
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

After a lot of contemplation, I decided that I will be attending UF in the fall. While the FSU $$ is certainly tempting, it is only for the first year. The COA over 3 years pretty much balances out. Go Gators!

Thanks
Sunday, November 27 2005 at 07:00 PM

See you in the fall!
