Additional info & updates

Tulane - complete app confirmation 1/30. acceptance email, 2/3 info on scholarship to follow via snail mail. That was quick. I'm wondering how hard up they are following Katrina.
2/10 recieved scholarship info from Tulane: 25k renewable.

2/20-WTF?? I haven't heard from any other schools yet. Damnit, I hate the wait.

2/21-Acceptance in mail from UNLV, with 17,800 first year, 8900 for 2-3L if I stay in the top third. If I apply for in state tuition for the second and third year, this amounts to a full scholarship.
Also, I just recieved an email from Emory informing me that my app is complete and not to be a PITA about calling to find out.

2/27-Acceptance to Temple via USPS, in large white envelope. 10k per year. I'm a bit dissapointed with that. Doesn't look I'll be moving to Philly.

3/3- In at GMU! I just recieved a phone call from Dean Richards. They'll be sending a packet tuesday. Knocking on wood for a scholarship
Also, acceptance from Emory, large white envelope. No scholarship info contained. Drats.
to make the decision easier, I created a spreadsheet factoring in tuition, COLA, scholarships, and average salary for graduates in order to get a more accurate idea of cost/benefit. So far, Tulane is in the lead with a 179% return on investment. UCDavis, OTOH, only 4% (assuming I'm accepted) The real shocker is that my safety school, UNLV, would yield 178%. I could legitimitely raise the average salary expectation on that one. Based on the profile of the incoming class, I think I could reasonably expect to graduate much higher than average and therefore be able to obtain an above average salary. Decisions, decision.

03/13- recieved an email from IUB telling me I was accepted and more info inbound via snail mail. Strangely, it was bounced to my junk mail folder. Could this be a sign?

3/17- recieved letter from IUB in a priority mail envelope. INcluded a handwritten note, nice touch, and 25500 over 3 years, even nicer touch:)
Also recieved large envelope from Loyola. They apparently send scholarship info separately.

No scholarship offer from GMU. I will be withdrawing shortly. Best of luck to you.

Troublesome (great screen name, I love that track!) I visited Tulane this past weekend. The town is coming back, slowly but surely. There is a lot of debris waiting to be hauled off, \\\"blue roofs\\\" and so on. You\\\'d be hard pressed to tell Katrina hit at the law school itself. The facilities are OK, and they haven't lost any faculty due to the hurricane. The Dean of admissions did mention they're being a little bit more generous with the scholarship offers this year.

Good information to know! Thanks!

The scholarship came with the acceptance letter in the packet they sent. I have decided not to attend and have let them know, so more money should be coming out as people had to accept or reject the scholarship offer last week.

Annoying people suck. But I did wonder along the same lines...Is there any particular reason that you didn't apply to any "reach schools?"

I've heard a lot of good things about Indiana. I'm glad you liked it. I am considering withdrawing from there but just haven't made myself do it yet. I am bitter though that everyone seems to have gotten a handwritten note with their acceptance and I didn't. ;) Maybe that will give me the added boost I need to make myself withdraw.

I think you may be correct on UNLV. I've corrected my expectations accordingly. Eithe way, i think I may withdraw. The employment % at graduation as reported by USNWR is a bit low, which worries me. Unless GMU comes through last mintues w/ a nice scholarship offer, it'll be Tulane or IUB.
