Additional info & updates

I have decided to wait on a decision from Seattle U. If they reject me, I will take the LSAT again and reapply next year. For a number of reasons it just doesn't make sense for me to begin at Gonzaga this fall.

How long did it take you to hear from Gonzaga? I'm still waiting to hear. I notice that you live in Washington... what is it like there? I'm from South Carolina and have never been on the West Coast before. I would imagine that the campus is very nice!

Good luck fellow waitlistee. Do you have a favorite LS?

I'm in the same boat. Seattleite through and through. I feel such a strong, unparalleled connection with this city it's hard to imagine living anywhere else. We'll see though. Best of luck.

Hi, I am not from the WA area and wanted to find out your thoughts on Gonzaga and the area. Do you plan to go there?

Congrats on your acceptances. Are you leaning toward Gonzaga or Williamette? Nicely done. Look forward to hearing from you.

I'll probably send my deposit to GU and see if I get off any waitlists in the spring/summer. If I get off the waitlists and a nice offer is made I will switch. The $300 GU deposit bill is minuscule in the grand scheme of things

Yeah please let me know what they say. I can't imagine it would matter though - people change their minds all the time. They can't force us into anything as nothing in the $$ letter was binding. Miami is my wildcard because I wanted to apply to one east coast school. I honestly have no idea but it would take a lot to pull me away from the PNW

I did A LOT of research on the PNW law schools. If you want my ad nauseum summation, let me know. I don't think Seattle is any better than Gonzaga. More popular location, higher USNEWS rank, and higher scoring students (mostly because of the first two reasons) are the only things they have. Job prospects, educational quality are the same. You earned great grades. Your LSAT should be higher. The LSAT is just a dumb game that everyone assumes actually means something. Learn the game, take a prep course. I promise you'll do better if you learn the test inside and out. Don't do it the free way either, just buy one of the darn prep courses. The first time I retook the LSAT to try and improve my 153, I said "relax more." Big mistake-- 147-- I should have cancelled that. All I did was borrow a friends PowerScore Prep PDF files, work on them for a month, a voilla-- 159. If I had to do it again, i'd just fork out the money for Kaplan and get an even higher score. I probably wouldn't have even got into Willamette a year ago, and now i'm going for half price. wonderful. I'm probably just projecting my own experience onto you, but that's my advice. Retake the LSAT, get a larger scholly. Or, just go to Willamette or Gonzaga. Last year, when I was applying to all of the t3/t4s around Florida, I was really wishing I could go to any of the vastly superior t3/t4s on the west coast, willamette, gonzaga, and idaho being the best of those. Now I will :) And don't get sensitive about all of the immaturity on the "internets." There are a lot of people who got into great schools and then go around insulting every school that doesn't rank highly on USNEWS' rankings o' national clout (which means what in regard to a regional school?). You have to evaluate a school in its own region, on its own terms, and in relation to your goals, etc. The 80th ranked school is not necessarily better than a highly respected t-3. That depends on you! Seriously, don't be one of these brainless future lawyers . . .

I'm in the same situation, but in portland. It's "there or bust". Sounds like Seattle is your choice then. I'd still strongly recommend taking the year off and improving the LSAT. Seattle is very generous with scholarships. Besides, i've benefited soooooo much from taking this year; it's been refreshing, I improved my prospects, and had plenty of time to do some reading/research. I spent a few months reading memoirs (One L, Brush With the Law, Letters from Law School, Barman) and then some time reading some how to's (Planet Law School, Law School Confidential, Getting to Maybe, the Jeff Deaver guide). Yep, I know what i'm getting into. It scares me to think how naive I was about things. Projecting my own experience . . .

Hi. Did you get your scholarship with your acceptance or in a separate mailing? Let me know if you don't mind. Thanks!

yeah..

you know, 3.86 is elite-level GPA. i would kill to have a GPA that high. if you retook the lsat and scored a 160 or higher you would get into a plethora of tier 1 schools. let me know how things end up!

I've noticed that you are doing the exact same thing as me and pestering people in order to find out how SU is informing people whether they are rejected or accepted off the waitlist. Anyways if you find out will you let me know?!? Thanks.
