Additional info & updates

2/26/09- Received my first admission via phone call to the University of Akron!

3/14/09- I've applied to 14 schools so far. I'm thinking about applying to more because of the sudden rush of fee waivers from random schools. Do these people really want me, or do they want their application numbers to be inflated? I was going to apply to number 15, when LSAC's website decided to crash this week. I guess that was a sign to stop. lol

3/17/09- Received a rejection letter from George Mason. It probably took .5 seconds to type. Thanks. Nice green logo... Happy St. Patrick's Day!

04/07/09- Hooray!! My father called... I received my USC acceptance letter at my permanent address, rather than here at school. Odd, they could have tossed it across the street, but instead they sent it across the state. Oh well, I'm pretty stoked to be in. However, I am sad that they don't have scholarship money for me.

04/08/09- Received a pretty crappy email from the University of Denver. After tough consideration, they have decided to offer me a position on their waitlist. I'll take it.

04/09/09- Acceptence phone call from Roger Williams with a scholarship offer for $10k a year. Sounds good to me. I came home for Easter to find a rejection letter from Alabama. Big frown.

04/14/09- Waitlist for U of Tennessee. Have to say that I'm pretty sad about it. I also received the big 10k a year scholarship for Florida Coastal. Jacksonville is a gorgeous city... but I'm not so sure if their law school is where I would want to go. Right now I am really leaning toward South Carolina.

04/20/09- I am quite irked that I haven't heard a word for gonzaga, mercer, texas tech, and florida state. I applied late to the last two, but the first two have no excuse. Is it just me, or was most of this process a complete waste of money? I should have only applied to USC.

Thanks! Congrats on Akron! It's such a good feeling to know that you're at least going somewhere. I hope you start hearing from other schools soon! About South Carolina...I got a small envelope in the mail from them about mid-February. The letter said they were admitting me and offering me a scholarship that would cover out of state tuition. What's your top choice? I hope the rest of your cycle goes well!

Thanks! I feel so incredibly blessed/lucky and never thought my cycle would turn out so well. Looks like you have a lot to look forward too, as well! I think the Index is based off a formula each school has that weights your GPA and LSAT in a certain way. For example, like .5xLSAT + 4xGPA + some other number=index. So, the higher the better I would imagine. Good luck!

I completely understand about wanting a change. There are some times I wish my undergrad had a law school, and there are others that I'm thankful it doesn't. If you end up getting into Alabama let me know! I think that's where I'll end up in the fall, but I'm visiting this week to make sure. Good luck with everything!

Hmmm...I'd say it probably took about three months to hear back from USC. I applied at the end of November and received my letter at the end of February I believe.

Cooley

Thanks for the comment. My first reason for not wanting to go Cooley is because of its location. Secondly, and most importantly, I've read numerous reports where it states that it is extremely difficult to transfer out of cooley. No matter what school I attend, if I do accepted to any school, my goal is to transfer into a better tier school, and it is reported that a lot of schools frown upon cooley.
