Additional info & updates

Only took LSAT once..

My Personal Statment was written by me yet edited by two young lawyers.

My GPA is not stellar, however my course load was rediculous..i.e. Biology, Chem, Calc. and Psychology with labs in one semester..

My major GPA is above a 3.0.

Always worked more than 30 hours a week...

Vice-President of Alpha Phi Omega; Co-educational Community Service and commit to at LEAST 40 hour of community service a semester..while working and in school full time.

I really hope i can get into a good program..so here we go...

New England
In there like Swim wear. 0 for scholarship. Decent school, but in comparative to other Bostinian schools, it can't compete. I also would like to practice in NY so this one I will put aside..but wouldn't discard.

Touro Law
In. 11k Scholarship. Sweet deal... It's in NY, which puts it above NELS but I don't know if I can live with the family in LI. NY is another saturated law market.. i need something with more prestige. Aside for now, not discarded..

Still awaiting more responses...

I really want to get into Albany or CUNY. CUNY is awsome tuition plus a Public intrest Leader in Law... Albany is just a good school in the capital of NY.

I want Suffolk.. just as a better school in Boston. A better option for out of NY...

Widener is an option because of its high ranked Health Law Program. As for CUNY, if i go to a Third Teir, I at least want a school that is recognizable in a particular specialized field to secure job placement...

..I want to stab the mail man.. why does this take so long....

I like Turtles.

FL schools are probably off my list unless i get ridiculous scholarships, and that probably will not happen.

Speaking of Fl, St. Thomas University School of law of Florida University.....i guess.. just called me. I called back and the guy is on lunch. They don't call to reject you do they? That would be just mean....

Well i was registered to take the Feb lsat and forgot to cancell.. schools were waiting for the second score without my knowing.. i had to call every office and send emails confirming that i did not take it and to make my application complete... son of a ..

St. Thomas wants me to MAIL a written letter to confirm me not taking the LSAT. I already got into other schools that i would want over St. Thomas so i disregarded it. Don't care..NEXT!

In at Barry with Scholly.. Too bad i don't care about Florida anymore..

Widener.. IN. Nice.. choice of campuses.

Western New England by phone call with scholly.. nice

6 for 6 thus far..nice.
Widener DE
Widener PA
W. New England
New England
Touro
Barry

I'll rank 'em a little later after research.

In at Roger Williams law..
Half Scholarship plus books..
Tied BC for majority Bar Passage rate in Mass? Third to only BU and Harvard. New School..new reputation..

Still waiting..for my top three....

Albany
CUNY
Suffolk...

come on come on come on....

SWEET JESUS, ACCEPTED AT ALBANY LAW!!!!
I was sick of waiting so I called, and asked them to tell me over the phone. HYPED. That was a relief, I got into a good school. No word yet on scholarship money.

Suffolk said they made a decision, They did not tell me over on the phone, I expect a reply by tomorrow... but i think Albany still beats it out unless Suffolk offers me a bomb scholly.

Suffolk small envelope, ( ****!!!!)
Oh, waitlisted, ok!

I've driven past a few times but have never visited. A friend goes there and he loves it... So that's why I applied cause it is only 30 mins from me...

Hey Brother!! I am the former President of the Iota Mu chapter at the University of South Carolina!! Sorry, I just get really excited when I come across another brother. =-) I am still waiting to hear back from most everybody... and hope to be as blessed as you when it's all over. I found you because we both applied to Roger Williams. Have you visited there?

Congrats!

Congrats on Albany man! Have you looked into the economy there? Did you weigh this in your decisions? Just curious cuz I know it's important to network where you go to law school. Thank and Good LUCK!!

Economy and contacts in Albany

jgg1974 - Albany is a small city and it is not being affected too badly by the souring economy (there's some drops in property values - I know, firsthand - but it's not like a lot of other cities across the country). Fact is, we have a lot of pretty stable employers here, not just the state (HUGE still even with layoffs) but we have the SUNY system as well as major hospitals and a ton of small private colleges. Albany is doing okay. As far as contacts go - some of the major law firms based in New York have offices here in Albany - they have to, it's the capital after all, so they have to have lobbyists and attorneys based here as well as the city. So if you go to school here in Albany (like me), you can intern with those firms here (and have no competition from other law schools) and, potentially, work for those same firms in the city once you're out of school. And if that's not your path, you've also got the state here - the legislature, the courts, etc. Both Albany's DA and the state DA are Albany Union grads.
