Additional info & updates

not sure of exact complete date at NU; i wasn't able to log into the status tracker until 12/9 and my application was already marked complete then.

rec'd UVA acceptance 12/10 by mail; status changed to decision 12/6.

Harvard acceptance via phone call 12/13. Yay!!!!

NYU acceptance by mail, letter dated 12/8, rec'd 12/16.

In at UPenn 12/20 via phone call.

Columbia acceptance package arrived by mail 01/25, letter dated 01/23. No e-mail. I heart Columbia.

Northwestern acceptance letter downloaded from status checker 02/01 (dated 01/31).

Phone call from Ann Perry @U Chicago 02/02. The Windy City loves me this week!

Yale rejection came 02/04 through USPS (dated 02/02). Frankly, almost relieved to have it out of the way and start narrowing things down.

Got e-mail from UMich 02/14 stating that my file has already been viewed once and that I will get a decision by the end of April. I'm taking it as a deferral (?)

03/28: After nearly five months, Stanford finally decided that they don't want me. Hooray for closure!

Waitlist e-mail from Mich 04/03. Withdrew.

After 2+ months of patience w/ NU fin. aid, I contacted them only to discover that they apparently lost everything I'd sent except the FAFSA. And then they offered me nothing but loans.

Congrats to my terrifyingly close twin! We'll probably end up being like floormates at Harvard or something equally bizarre.

Congratulations, and two quick questions

Hey, congratulations on the acceptance! I have two questions for you though. It would be awesome if you could answer them. I got a W on my transcript (non-punitive, non GPA counting,) Did you have any Ws on your transcript, or do you know anybody that has one or more and will it affect my acceptance into Harvard, Yale, etc? (Considering I get a high GPA and a high LSAT? (E-mail me or leave a message with the answer in my profile) Also, if you dont mind, could you tell me how you prepared for the LSAT?

name twins?

is your name deena? if so, we're name twins (tho i spell my name with an *i*). yah, worthless comment I know. :-) but the name is uncommon enough that i'm always excited when I meet other people with that name!

My first score was the lowest I ever got on any full test, practice or otherwise, so I really think I just got unlucky or maybe a little nervous on that day. I didn't try to explain the lower score per se on my apps, because 1) I didn't think I had any single, easy to point out reason for it and 2) One good piece of information that my pre-law advisor told me (among other not as useful tidbits) was "If you score a 178 or something, it will speak for itself." Now, I don't know how sincere this was supposed to be because he didn't seem to think I would improve that much, and I did miss the 178 cut-off by a point, but I accepted the logic and felt I'd be better off not to try to make some lame or unconvincing excuse up when my first score really wasn't THAT bad and my second one is good. Both times I took the LSAT I did some timed prep tests beforehand, although I kept a more regular practice schedule before the second test because I knew it was my last chance to nail it. Hope that helps.

Congrats!

to you too. You've got some awesome choices already and I'm sure many more to come. Any top choices so far? Are you going to the first Harvard admit day?

Nice!!!

Re: Col $$

They called it a "scholarship" grant in the paperwork they sent, so I assume it's merit-based, though I did also apply for need-based aid.
