Your numbers just caught my eye. We're very similar, but your grades are a bit higher. Have you heard anything from Loyola? I was granted an interview. It went well, but I'm not sure why I was grannted one in the first place. Then again, I was waitlisted at George Mason and my number suggest I should have been rejected as you should expect from USC and UCLA. I went to the open house for admitted students at Southwestern yesterday. I would not be upset about going there. My brother is in the evening program and loves it. fooffer
Yeah, I see my typos.
If you think Southwestern is in a bad part of town, it's paradise compared to Loyola. I don't think Loyola was thinking about scholarships. I think is was to see what kind of individual I am, how well I think on my feet , and that I"m not a cyclops. I, too, have it as my first barely realistic choice. I'll let you know what happens. hey, they actually never notified me. i went online to check the financial aid status checker, and it was updated there. i called them, and then said they will be sending my financial aid info within a week. this was all last week. and yea, i just got my loyola rejection, so i guess ill be sending a deposit in to sw. what about u?
I honestly don't know for certain what I will do. Southwestern is coming up in the world, but still not ranked. My brother is there and loves it. Pepperdine is a beautiful place and hard to turn down. As far as SW on the 22nd, I'd love to be there but I am out of town and won't be back until the 27th. It won't be any different than the previous open house I went to. If you weren't at the last one, you should go.
The information session was a by-invitation only thing for people who have spent a minimum of one year working after undergrad. Basically, if you were a local person, worked for a year or more after undergrad, and stated that you would consider the evening program if not given a day time seat (this is on the ORIGINAL application), then you were sent an email. I think you numbers would generally have to be pretty close to their averages as well. But basically it opened up a door for me to really share my personality and career goals with members of the faculty. As far as additional information, I had a very influential Loyola grad write an additional letter of recommendation after I was waitlisted. I also faxed and mailed a letter of continued interest to the admissions office. When I went into the admission office, I took a quick peek at my file and EVERYTHING was there including random emails that I sent to the assistant dean of admissions, thanking her for meeting with me. If you're REALLY set on getting a shot at Loyola, I recommend calling the office and asking that you change your seat preference to evening program because the day program was quite literally filled up with only a handful of evening seats remaining. My case was almost a fluke as a student notified them last minute that he no longer wanted to attend. Last year, a handful of seats opened up a couple of weeks before classes commenced... and I literally mean a handful... as in 5 seats. Do the math, 5 seats open for over 200 waitlisted applicants and its really a LOOOONG shot. I highly recommend that you try to shoot for the evening program.
I emailed Loyola with my withdraw request. I just don't want to be a night owl. I requested night before Pepperdine came through. Amazingly, the Dean of Admissions wrote me back and asked if I would like to still be considered for the day program. So I said yes and I'm back on the waitlist. I hope you hear something soon from them. I just couldn't see going to Loyola night over Pepperdine day. If Loyola comes through, I will start beating my head against the wall. Good luck to you. It'll be intersting when some of us meet up and reveal our identities. I can picture someone standing up in class and yelling " who in the hell is Fooffer?"
I'm also in @ SW and WL @ Loyola (Pepperdine & USC = rejection) anyways, have you switched your app to Loyola PT to have a better shot? If you were offered Loyola PT, would you take it over SW FT? (if God forbid both UCLA and Pepperdine came back as rejections)...
yeah, its looking like SW to me too... but I'm hoping for a HUGE miracle from Loyola... I actually graduated UCLA 2 years ago (c/o 2004),,, but maybe you're right... after all UCLA kicks ass, go bruins! :) I've heard you can actually do the PT program in 3.5 years, so would you accept the PT offer if Loyola offered?
Southwestern is a great place. Easy for me to say, I know. What astounds me is that you are waitlisted at UCLA. I didn't even apply there. Just a thought on Loyola again. I Just don't see doing the night program. I did the unthinkable and listed night as my first choice when I was waitlisted. The more I think about it, I would like a traditional program. Either way, if you get in to Loyola at night, your diploma willl say Loyola, not "Night Loyola". I wish you the best. Maybe you'll be joining me in Malibu.
Its July 19th, our registration materials are due in two days... have you sent yours in??? What section are you in?
what section are you in???
Actually I submitted apps in early November, so who knows! It's all good...NorCal tops Southern CA in my book, but best of luck to you. At least you've got one....what a great feeling :-)
