Extra Curricular Information

I was involved in numerous student activist orgs in college. Since graduating I spent five years freelancing and running a small business that made some waves getting national/international press (although it didn't make any money!). I have also worked as a paralegal at a non-profit.

Additional info & updates

1/28/09:
I got an email from Berkeley Monday saying my application had been selected for faculty committee review. I don't know that this means much but it's certainly not bad news.

I haven't heard anything at all yet from other schools...still waiting!

I'm still thinking of applying to an additional school or two. Perhaps, American, Northeastern, and/or Vermont. (I just hate to move back to the cold weather!)

1/30/09:
Got an email and admissions packet from Loyola Law School offering $63,000 over 3 years.

An email arrived from University of Houston saying I've been accepted and the admissions packet is on its way.

I expected to get into both these schools but it's a relief two have some good news before any rejections start rolling in--I have two backup plans!

2/13/09:
I got a large envelope from Lewis & Clark with an acceptance letter. The status checker had been saying "decision processed" for at least a week. I was hoping to see a scholarship offer but instead I got a letter that said I had been considered for scholarship but all funds were gone and they would make me an offer in late April. Won't I have to have made a decision by then???

3/9/09:
First rejection: A small, thin envelope from Boston College. Not super upset about it. I wasn't looking forward to moving to Boston and if nothing else at least it helps narrow down the choices. I just hope this isn't the outcome I should expect for all my remaining "pending" applications.

3/18/09:
Berkeley was right on time with their decision from the second faculty committee review. Found out that I was rejected via the status checker. It was a long shot, so no worries! Just hoping for good financial aid packages from the places I have already been accepted.

...notified me via snail mail (small white envelope). You're numbers are a bit better than mine so perhaps you'll get in. Best of luck to you!

I visited University of Houston on Monday and was not impressed. The whole place smelled like the Subway that occupies the center of the student lounge area. Gross! It made pretty Lewis and Clark sound a lot more appealing (I visited the campus looking at undergrad schools).

Hi, I also just received my L&C acceptance with that disappointing scholarship letter. What are you thinking about this?

Hey there, Just wondering..is your 9,800 a grant or a merit scholarship? Thanks!
