Additional info & updates

Scholarship info is a three-year total

Feb 7th: Thin envelope from Northeastern with acceptance and Teach for America scholarship!! The first acceptance feels very good.

Feb 9th: Call from Loyola Chicago Dean! Sweet. Now, if that acceptance package mentions money, that would be even sweeter...

Feb 11th: Was expecting a packet from Loyola or DU (went to decision last week) -- instead I got an acceptance from American! That is pretty cool. I would love to hear about scholarships/public interest money, but I know American is usually pretty stingy... *sigh*

Feb 13th: Received acceptance packages from both Loyola and DU today. Loyola offered a $4,000 TFA scholarship for the first year, while DU did not offer any scholarships up front. A little surprised by that after seeing how many people with my numbers and even below were offered substantial scholarships from DU. I will keep my fingers crossed for the Chancellor Scholarship. :)

Feb 16th: Contacted DU about scholarships and was told that they will be meeting about the Chancellor Scholarship and other $ in March. Full tuition would be pretty sweet. In at Temple via status checker today -- nice!

Feb 18th: Complete at CU! This means almost as much as my acceptances thus far. Yay! *fingers crossed*

Feb 19th: $21,000 scholarship/year at DU. Pretty happy about this. I would be even happier with a full tuition scholarship for public interest law, but I think they're still deciding on that one...

Feb 20th: Official scholarship letter from DU as well as $12K first year scholarship from Temple.

Feb 28th: Acceptance from Lewis and Clark with a disappointing letter re: no scholarship money left. Sad. :( Withdrawing to give others a spot...

March 2nd: First rejection, GW. Stings, but it's cool. Bring it ON!

March 13th: Received what is essentially a wait-list by email for the PIPS at American. Oy vey this waiting game...

March 23rd: Big news today: No Chancellor at DU (meh), ding at GTown (expected, still stings) and $20/K per year at Loyola. :)

March 26th: Found out I have $14k in grant aid for the first year at American. No guarantee of future aid, but I like the way they think...! Argh, and nothing from CU. Grrrr to them! Oh, no PIPS at American for me, either.

April 2nd: IN AT CU! Awesomeness. And now the plot thickens...

April 6th: Child Law at Loyola-Chicago. If I could move this program and its people to CU I would be so golden. But after talking with PI people at CU, they seem to have a good program, too.

April 17th: Withdrew from Temple with a Rubin-Presser. This was a difficult decision but I love CO/CU Law too much to move back to Philly. Turned in my deposit at CU's ASD today. Barring a miracle from Penn, my cycle is over. Hoping to get scholarship money from CU but very happy with the school even at in-state sticker.

First off, thanks for the congrats. I was surprised/thrilled to be accepted at CU. I just noticed that my complete date got messed up. It took just over a month to go complete. I'm glad I am giving you some hope, bc your numbers are significantly better than mine. Softs must be a large consideration in my case. I did some high-profile work in state funding for higher ed in college, and I think that may have helped. Working at the White House couldn't have hurt. I am also a CO resident, which from what I hear also matters. I have a rural background like you as well. One note: I am not a URM. It is going to be very hard for me to go somewhere else. I am still sooo excited to have the oppurtunity to go there. I hope things turn out well for you. Let me know if you have any more Q's.

Glad to hear that you went complete! Keep me posted.

Hey, thanks for the message--that's so sweet! Well, I'm pretty stoked about BU, but I think I'll wait to see what happens with the end of my cycle. I feel like I owe it to myself after waiting so long...! I really didn't think BU would be an option because of their numbers. What are you thinking at this point? And since you're in CO, how much do you want to come to Boston? It's a wicked sick city... :)

L&C Scholarship Letter

I was disappointed to get the letter... Especially when I got my aid award in the mail last week, leaving me $50K in debt after year one. I would love to live in Portland but I don't know if I can justify Lewis and Clark for that kind of money... Not after being offered money by Loyola and the better ranking of Hastings. UofH is also very affordable despite the undesirable location. Of course if I get awarded money in the end I will definitely reconsider :(

Yeah!

I know you were set on it for so long, so I'm glad to see that's where you'll end up. Good luck! :)
