Extra Curricular Information

I'm an old guy (43) with a family, mortgage, and a powerful desire to change careers. Retired USAF/Air Guard F-16 pilot. Former major airline pilot trapped no longer in the downward-swirling vortex of corporate bankruptcy.

My entire life is based in the Twin Cities, and so I've applied only to the four local schools. I'm certain to be rejected by the U of Minnesota, but believe I've got a decent shot at St. Thomas, Hamline and/or William Mitchell.

I'm not proud of my LSAT score - for some reason I could not make any type of connection with the logic games on test day. I've just got to trust that my college grades, extracurriculars and work history will carry the day.

Additional info & updates

02/18/06: Completely stoked to have been accepted by St. Thomas. Had earlier this winter visited UST with my wife, and we were blown away by the focus and values of the school. Tremendous facility and impressive staff. Quality of life is important to me, so was pleased to see that UST rated tops in that category. Accompanying the acceptance letter was notice that the school has received full accreditation, along with a brief but nice note from the dean.

02/21/06: Slightly surprised to have been waitlisted by William Mitchell. Had made a face-to-face visit with admissions there and was strongly encouraged to apply. Mitchell seems to be a "safety school" for many here, so I wonder if I might hear something more from them later on.

03/13/06: In at Hamline.

03/25/06: Rejected, as expected, by the U of M.

04/18/06: In now at Mitchell. Better late than never. Sent the withdrawal letter back to them this afternoon.

...to post on your site. I am surprised at your waitlist as well as mine. I really don't know what happened. Good luck with UMN and Hamline, and at least you have UST!

Thanks mikefoot.

As UST is at the top of my list, I'm kind of viewing the rest of the process with detached interest. Glad that you have the in at Albany, and best of luck the rest of the way.

Congrats on your decision! I am trying to decide between WM and UST right now. ...I am also a fellow Civil Engineer (though in business now)

Admitted Students Day
Wednesday, October 26 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey! Thanks for the message on my page. I actually will not be able to make today's session, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE let me know your thoughts after. I got the invite for William Mitchell's Admitted Students Day prior to getting the UST one, and since I live in Florida I couldn't make two trips. Have a great time!
