Applied to dual degree programs (Urban Planning) for Michigan and Minnesota, scored 1460 on GREs (660 Verbal, 800 Math).
Complete dates are the dates I received emails or letters from the schools.
Decision dates are the dates I received the post.
12-19-05: Totally surprised about W&L acceptance. My first! They have an amazing turn around. I received a complete email just a week earlier.
1-20-06: Denial letter from Michigan. Expected. Will be tough for me just to choose Urban Planning there if I were accepted into that program.
1-27-06: Just came back from a business trip in Philadelphia. Received admittance package from George Mason
1-28-06: Received package from SU. Includes Presidential scholarship (totally suprised, no way I thought I would be part of the top 5% applicant pool) offer of $10,000 renewable annually.
1-30-06: First day back at work. Nice message from Anne Richards, Dean of George Mason, about acceptance.
2-13-06: Received email from UMN Urban Planning Department. I'M ACCEPTED!!!!! Now to send continuing interest email to UMN Law...hopefully knowing that I've been accepted to the other program will help persuade their decisioning process.
2-16-06: OK, pretty sure if I get into Minnesota I'll go there. Sent the continuing interest letter directed to the Dean of Admissions yesterday via snail mail explaining my situation. Now if I don't get into UMN Law, then I have to decide if I want to do law, or urban planning, or stay in my current position as an economist for the government. Choices!!! PLEASE UMN LAW SEND ME AN ACCEPTANCE LETTER!!!!!! Ofcourse, I could always retake the LSAT; hope to do better and go to urban planning graduate school and reapply to law next admissions cycle.
2-22-06: Received letter from George Mason today. Was getting my hopes up it was financial aid information, but no, just more info about Open Houses and a pre-stamped postcard about my intentions to go there.
Wondering about UW. Now I don't have any expectations about receiving an acceptance letter, but I want to hear something! Their admissions deadline was 1/15 and I went complete back in the beginning of December. They have all other applications with which to compare mine, what is taking so long?!?! Ehh...I'll be on a business trip next week (Thurston county baby!!!) so hoping when I get back home Friday night there'll be some mail waiting for me, besides credit card offers of course.
2-25-06: Scholarship offer received in mail from WLU. $10,500 per year...dang it!!! This is making my choices harder!
3-01-06: Accepted to U Michigan Urban Planning via online status checker...ugg.
3-10-06: Happy Day!!! Received acceptance to UMN LAW! Was worried because most deferrals from last year didn't hear back until May...a celebration is in order! After mulling things for a bit, I'll most likely withdraw from other schools in the next couple weeks!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL OTHER DEFERRALS!!!!
3-15-06: Hey, it's the anniversary of my appendectomy. Fond memories of lying in a hospital bed waiting for the surgeon while my appendix throbbed in anticpation. In other news, withdrew from George Mason and Washington and Lee. Awaiting more news from Minnesota this week before I will withdraw from SU. I refuse to withdraw from UW and WM because I am expecting rejections from them. They don't deserve an additional $0.39 from me! Their websites say I should have a decision by 4/1...we'll see.
3-20-06: Just sent an email to Whitney Earles declining SU's offer of admission. I have friends at SU and they all rave about it. Best regards to those pending decision or who are on the waitlist.
3-21-06: Attending UMN LAW either 2006 or 2007, depends if I decide to study Urban Planning or Law first. Either way, I'll be at the open house April 22.
3-25-06: UW Ding in mail...took them long enough.
3-29-06: Waitlisted by Williams and Mary. Eh, already made my decision, plus no letter of withdrawl needs to be sent :)
Cycle is finally over after 5 months!!! Plus out of the seven schools, I've been accepted, rejected, waitlisted, and deferred...Sweet!
with UMIN law, I think they will take in to fact the fact that u r in the urban planning program!!
