Lost interest in medicine sometime after I took the MCAT. GPA never recovered.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

DePaul in large, obvious envelope. Immediate call from IP professor.

24K per year from Mitchell

Wake Forest - email about a scholarship I clearly do not qualify for. Acceptance Letter three days later in 1st class envelope

3/15 - confirmed that I'm at least 2 weeks out on the remainder of my applications. Hoorah, 2 more weeks of obsessively checking for updates on LSN.

3/22 - BC rejection in small white envelope. Finally. Also, I'm relieved to find that people who do not attend BC have a chance to succeed. Phew.

3/27 - BU waitlist invite appears in similar envelope to the BC ding. Even the first sentence sounded like I was being swept away. I almost didn't bother to continue reading. Count me pleasently surprised

4/03 - Received an email from the Dean @ Kent. A good start to decision week 06.

4/07 - Indiana comes through on time, though certainly not as expected. That puts me on every I's waitlist. Glad I didn't apply to Idaho.

4/24 - Phone call from the U of MN. Acceptance, sweet sweet acceptance. That emphatically ends the cycle for me. Good luck to all of you!

You\\\'ll get at least 10 of 12. Good luck.

You should easily get a full ride to William Mitchell with your numbers if I got 75 percent with mine. We're two of only three people on LSN (at least as of now) with 160+ LSAT scores... not sure if that's a good or a bad thing. You obviously have some very strong schools on your list, and should have some success in getting into most of those.

I'm guessing that's because they do not get a lot of national run. Good for us, not as good for them. I see you share my midwestern sensibilities when it comes to law school. It will be interesting to see where we end up. Good luck.

I was curious as to what the depaul IP professor said. I'm looking to apply to school for fall 2007 after i finish up my PhD. What were the requirements to keep the depaul scholarship. I\\\'ll most likely be looking to get a ride at william mitchell as well, as long as i don\\\'t bomb the lsat.

deferral letter
Monday, December 19 2005 at 07:00 PM

I received my deferral letter 12/27. Minnesota promised those of us who applied EA to receive a decision by the end of the year. Looking at LSN, most received deferrals. You should get in with your 166. Best of Luck.

Thanks for your comment. I'm actually pretty high on WFU right now... So far it's the best-ranked school I've gotten into, and I've heard great things from people who have visited: small, collegial, pretty competitive with job placement (on par with UNC for in-state jobs), etc. Have you been down there? Good luck with the rest of your cycle.

Did your letter actually say waitlisted or deferred?

I doubt I'll make it - a lot of work stuff that week. If you go, let me know what you think.

so, did you find out if you qualified for that scholarship or not?

Technically I qualify for it since I received notice. However since I a) am not the first person in my family to attend law school and b) have not exactly overcome significant personal hardship, I'm holding out much hope. Are you thinking of taking the Fletcher Scholarship?

if i get it, then 95% yes but i haven't won it yet... :o)

Here's hoping Illinois goes to the waitlist and good luck at your other schools.

Hey, I don't want to write too much on here, but $$, attention, and location are the prime reasons. Shoot me an email if you have other questions.

Sweet - just make sure not to take a job at my sweatshop of a firm next door.

Hey can i ask you something
Sunday, January 01 2006 at 07:00 PM

Hello, My name is Pravin. I am applying to Law School for next year. So i decided to go online and do some research. I found this page and then applied. Out of all the biomedical engineers out there you are probably the closest to me. I was wondering if you can give me any information on how hard applying to law school actually is. I have heard that they like recruiting engineers for law school. However, i do not know of any biomedical engineer that decided in going to law school.

Wake is not comparable to UNC from anything I've heard.

Neither has any chance of happening this fiscal year.

Yeah, I'm bummed... Would have loved to go there. But I'm glad to hear you liked what you saw at Wake. My seat deposit is in there, but I'm still crossing my fingers on Vandy and W&M.

Also working med devices...

Yes!!!! bout freaking time.

yep, IP for now.
Wednesday, February 15 2006 at 07:00 PM

Sadly, yes. Patent prosecution seemed like a natural for someone with technical background. Litigation is not my thing. However, I have spoken with some folks who completely abandoned technical work and haven't looked back. I just don't like the way engineers act superior then consistently do things that are not in their interests.

I am in the UMN deferred boat too and really want to get in. I wondered if you did anything to help yourself there ... like an addendum, additional letter, or letting them know they are your top choice. Thanks and congrats!

Congrats to you too
Wednesday, March 22 2006 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, my preference is now MN. I like the class selection at WI more, but I'll probably go to MN anyway. Looks like I'll be seeing you in the fall.

Thanks for the response and the previous post. I am excited for you, even through my jealousy! Haha. Couldn't agree with you more about IU-B! Good luck with everything you have going on.
