ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

I did not write optional essays for any of the schools to which I applied (Penn, Michigan, Duke, etc.).

11/15/11 - In at Duke via email. It's really encouraging to have an acceptance so early in my cycle. Duke deserves great praise for their priority track system.

11/29/11 - In at Texas via phone call. Pretty excited that I'm 2 for 2 so far.

11/30/11 - In at Georgetown via snail mail. Came in a tiny envelope. Had me nervous.

12/10/11 - Just received scholarship information from Texas in the mail. Dean's Academic Excellence scholarship and Non-Resident Tuition Exemption. Total value: $93,000.

12/16/11 - In via email at Cornell! Got the email this morning. Cornell was one of my top choices, so I'm pretty excited. I was also told that I am being considered for the Dean's scholarship.

12/19/11 - In at UCLA via phone call. Got the call early in the morning, so I was somewhat groggy. They offered 90,000 which thoroughly surprised me. This cycle is going great so far.

01/02/12 - In at Berkeley via email! I did not expect to hear from any schools for quite a while (considering winter break and such). I'm so excited to hear from one of my top choices, especially one with a 'black-box' reputation.

01/03/12 - In at Boulder via snail mail. Cool!

01/06/12 - Rejected from Harvard. Oh well. I don't like Boston anyway.

01/13/12 - In at Penn via phone call! I'm pleased to hear some good news. Penn is now the highest ranked school to which I've been accepted, thus far. Hope to hear from Stanford (low expectations), Columbia, NYU, and Michigan soon.

01/14/12 - Withdrawing from UC Hastings and UC Davis. At this point, I am certain that I will not be attending these schools.

01/19/12 - Waitlisted at Virginia via email. I'm not really that bothered because I no longer had any intention of attending UVA Law. I will likely withdraw soon.

01/27/12 - Deferred 1 year at Northwestern. They offered 50,000/year. Pretty cool. I'm not that surprised, considering Northwestern's emphasis on work experience.

Accepted at Berkeley.

We have really similar numbers! What else did you major in besides English? I'm also a double major: English and Philosophy.

You are crazy for turning down 150k to Northwestern and Cornell. Loans suck.
