Fee Waiver from St. John's. Still haven't heard from them ...

Have withdrawn from Fordham, Wash U and Brooklyn. I have been busy with exams and graduation paperwork, and will withdraw from the others after June 1. Minnesota was amazing, I loved the school during my visit, and I am extremely excited about attending.

Minnesota left me a message, asking what my "interest" was in their school. I left a voicemail for the admissions officer who called, telling them I was extremely interested, and about an hour later I was told (in a return phonecall) that I was admitted. I was previously deferred on 2/22/05. I greatly enjoyed my visit, and am 99% sure this is it. Although a Penn acceptance would probably pry me away.

Illinois told me over the phone that I was waitlisted. My letter is in the mail.

BU sent a letter (business envelope) and a postcard to send back.

A phonecall to Vandy (4/12) shows that my file is currently in committee (sp?). They have been extremely cordial during the several phonecalls I made to them, and even went out of their way to e-mail me confirmation of an additional recieved document.

Brooklyn e-mailed me with an offer of acceptance. Two mailings arrived 4/8/05; one acceptance letter with deposit information and housing forms, a second with a $15k scholarship, renewable each year.

Wash U waitlist letter (thin business envelope) came with an additional green sheet. You're supposed to mail back the sheet with your summer contact info. Also, the letter was unsealed, so hypothetically it could have fallen out while in transit. Getting an empty thin envelope would have really freaked me out. I was deferred previously.

Fordham's online status check showed that I was waitlisted. I am still waiting for mail correspondence.

Cornell's status check showed that I had a decision as of 3/25. It took a few days for my rejection letter to come.

USC waitlist letter came in a 7x11 enevelope with two forms. You can see an orange form (the waitlist return sheet) through the envelope. Also, pre-paid envelope is included for your reply. Very classy.

Duke never told me my file was complete, although my rejection letter seemed to show otherwise.

Penn screwed up my file, and told me in a letter (12/10/04) that all I was missing was one LOR. I actually was missing my certification page, and did not find out until I called them earlier in February.

All rejections came in standard envelopes, except Northwestern. They were supposed to send an e-mail, but I checked their online system on a whim and saw that a decision had been reached. Texas's decision was also posted online before I received my snail mail rejection.

Minnesota's deferral letter came in a standard business envelope (dated 2/18). I like their procedure, and wish more schools would follow suit. It seems like a reasonable system to protect admission yields, while still maintaining a highly qualified applicant pool.

I received a holiday card from Wash U, and I didn't apply. I was on their mailing list since I asked for an app. packet. Good luck!

Nope, it specifically used the words "high priority waitlist", and hinted that it was the first year they had done so.

Hey. You had commented on my profile asking about my preferences for my acceptances. As of right now, it's between BC and UT. I want to do human rights/immigration law, and both schools have relatively strong programs for this. (While BU would be the cheapest, their focus seems way too corporate for what I want to do, plus I went there for undergrad and wouldn't mind a change of scenery.) However, there's been a bit of a problem with UT's financial aid - no one's received their financial aid packages yet. I got an extention on my seat deposit through 4/22. If they give me any sort of decent need-based grant, I'm heading there. If not, it's BC for me. I will withdraw from WUSTL by the tuition deposit deadline, as I'm an alternate for the Webster (PI) scholarship, and I want to keep my options open in case someone declines. However, at this point it's highly unlikely. Good luck, Melissa

UMN

Hey, Congrats on your recent acceptance to UMinn. I think the program (faculty, clinics, study abroad, student body, externship contacts, etc.) is unbelievable. I highly doubt you can use this as a bargaining chip to get off a WL. I think that may be a little bit of wishful thinking. If you've never been to Minneapolis, I would check it out. It surprised me a lot, and I'm very picky about cities. There are big parks, lakefront beaches, culture, etc. Most everyone has a good attitude. If I were you, I'd strongly look into it. Best of luck.
