did you ever receive a deferral letter from Penn or just the email?

I only got an email saying my application was being held "for further review". I never got a letter.

Congrats

On everything so far, with more to come I'm sure :-)

Anon - Thank you for your compliments, but I'm a little bit confused as to how other people are being pricks. Do you mean by staying on the waitlist just to mess with Michigan? (People were talking about that a lot on XOXO.) Michigan was probably my top choice of the schools at which I had a decent shot (due mostly to the refugee/asylum law program - I was really psyched about that). I will stay on the waitlist for now, but if I don't hear back by, say, early June, I'm officially withdrawing from the list. I can't afford to submit deposits at other schools only to get a call in mid-August asking me to move to Ann Arbor. Please clarify a bit if you see this. Thank you again for the kind words, and best of luck to you as well.

Just curious if your rankings (above) still hold. I'm waitlisted at a few of your admits, and am curious which way you're leaning.

Ohhhhh yes. BIG problems with the Dean's Cert, compounded by the fact that I'm in grad school 600 miles away from where I went to undergrad. They had to be mailed twice and faxed once to each school that required them (Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, and BU). I had been calling my undergrad about once every two weeks since late December to check on the status... they told me they went out on 1/14. As of 2/14, not one school had received them, including the law school corresponding to my undergrad (approx. 50 yards away), and one in the same city (right across the river). I was very, very upset. (Sorry to rant: it took all my self control not to start screaming into the phone when I found out.) For what it's worth, I submitted the paperwork in October when it was due in September, but I still can't imagine a.)how it would take them 4 months to write 4 form letters and b.)how not one school received them a month after mailing. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist or a whiner, but I'm pretty sure they lied to me, and it was very upsetting. Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhhh

congrats!

Hi Franz. I found out about the Webster scholarship last Thursday afternoon (4/21). I had been named an alternate sometime in March, but I guess someone else turned it down. I had originally received an aid package of $20K per year from WUSTL. Hope that helps.

Were you put on 'hold' or anything at Columbia? I know they said they would re-review those apps in June. Congrats on everything else, Good luck!
