Nice to see a fellow UAFer on here! I applied last year, and am trying again this year for higher-ranked schools. FYI, I applied to Gonzaga in November of last year, and I didn't get my acceptance letter until...mid-to-late February, I'm pretty sure. So don't worry! If you want to return to AK, Gonzaga is a great school, and pretty good with the financial aid to boot. I'm sure you'll do just fine at all the schools you've applied to -- don't underestimate the importance of the "Alaska Card" -- there are usually less than 100 applicants to law school from AK each year, we're one of the rarest states for schools in terms of geographic diversity, plus add in the fact that we're the only state without a law school. When I visited U. Arizona, the dean of admissions told me that Alaskan applicants were the only non-residents that get considered as residents for admissions quota purposes (i.e. if they say that, as a public school, 65% of admitted students will consist of Arizona residents, Alaskan applicants get lumped in with Arizonans.) So good luck! :)
Congrats on Widener!! I just received acceptance packet today too! So excited.
Good luck with this application cycle!
- I received my acceptance letter from University of Baltimore on 1/2/08 via USPS. It was a small letter envelope. - The Widener acceptance was mailed to my mom (which is what I used as my permanent mailing). She called and told me on 1/12/08. She said it came in a big packet! Can't wait to get it up here to alaska to read it! - As of today 1/13/08 I haven't heard from Gonzaga, Temple, or Rutgers. Bad news for Rutgers though, I proofed my application on LSAC before converting it to PDF. When I converted it, it made the text larger; thereby cutting off part of my statement. Makes it look like I didn't proof. So I'm not holding a lot of hope for Rutgers (even though it was my #1) :(
