Scholarship amounts are per year.

1/21--already under review at W&L. trying not to get my hopes up.

1/23--In at Richmond with the possibility of money and OVER THE MOON about it. Best phone call of the year, easily.

1/24--Under review at Seton Hall and DePaul.

1/29--Rejected from W&L via status checker on Thurs. Accepted via email to Charleston Sat. AM. I am happy about it.

2/22--have been out of town and off the site for awhile. I have some good choices, but I'm waiting to hear back from UNC, Hastings and a few others before I decide anything.

2/26--Baylor and Gonzaga are at Decision Made. Waiting on the mail is becoming a daily anticipatory event.

3/16--Many schools to hear from yet. Currently my top picks are Richmond, UoP, and Lewis & Clark. Visiting the last this weekend.

3/18--
Personal ranking of schools I have yet to hear from:

1. USC
2. UNC
3. Vandy
4. Tulane

Schools I have heard from, I'm less certain of, and have yet to make any big decisions about.

There's less than two weeks before deposits are due at a few of the schools I like, so I'm a little stressed out.

3/19--In the wee small hours of the morning, I decided to withdraw from schools I know I will not attend. It is hard to do this without complete information about where I will be accepted/denied, but hopefully it's good karma. Still, I don't like waving money, and my imaginings of a place, goodbye. Only one school? Seriously? ;)

4/18--Choices have narrowed considerably, but I'm still waiting to hear from Tulane. An acceptance there would end my cycle. In the meantime, I've deposited at two schools, one of which starts in May (waiting on fin aid info). Still lighting a candle for the South, though.

5/14--Still deciding between Tulane and USD. Tulane has unofficially offered 10k/yr. Visiting NO next week.

5/20--Hours after I sent my second deposit to Tulane, received an email stating UNC is beginning to pull from the waitlist. Such is life.

5/23--In at UNC. Attempting to weasel out of New Orleans lease.

Update

4/21/2012:

I moved to North Carolina in July 2011, and I love being back in the state where I attended undergrad.

I'm starting law school in August 2012 after a one year deferral. The last minute move made things a bit hectic so I decided to take some time to settle in on the East coast again after a 9 year hiatus.

Looking forward to the next three years, very much.

Heard today that the Dean of Louisville law school resigned-- it seemed like a school I would have liked to attend (I believe I received a small scholarship there but cannot remember the exact amount--they sent a very personal welcome package).

I updated my list from last year with "the schools I forgot to list" because for this year's applicants--it might make a difference.

If you are a current applicant and are wondering about fee waivers: I did not keep track of those very well, because I applied to so many schools. I also did not ask for any. The fee waivers I did receive were automatically granted.

In retrospect, applying to around 10-12 schools would have been a better idea, because obsessing about law school admission is a waste of time.

UNC would have been on my list either way, and I would have missed the application submission deadline at the University of Washington AND Yale either way.

I wouldn't do things differently-- I learned "what not to do" the hard way. In other words, I spent too much time on this, and it was sloppy.
