Choice #s represent the USNWR rankings from 2008.

$$ amounts are cumulative for 3 years
Decision date is date on letterhead, receipt date is below:

11/17: Recieved Acceptance package from William and Mary! Sent via overnight mail, and included Graduate Fellowship worth $14,200 per year for three years assuming "B" average, part-time work within Law Library during 1L and research assistance during 2L and 3L. Go Tribe!

12/3: Got an email from UT informing me that my application was not selected during the EA applicants and that I will be "held" over until regular decisions are made.

12/4: Dinged at Georgetown. Short letter in small envelope. First rejection- I need tougher skin.

12/6: Found out I was rejected at Minnesota and waitlisted at Notre Dame... Not a good week for me in the Law Schools Apps field...

12/15: Defered at Cornell by snail mail.

01/07: Rejected by Virginia via email. Nice, sincere note by Dean Trujillo... bummer, starting to become numb to the rejections (this one was more expected then others.)

01/12: Received a very nice packet from Emory with an acceptance. Looking forward to visiting the school in April. No mention of scholarship, however, my recomender did submit my Woodruff fellowship recommendation last week!

01/12: Received a rejection letter today in the mail from Big Blue. Dean Zearfoss's letter was polite and to the point. Looks like the midwest is not my greatest fan. Come on Left Coast lets hear some good news!!

01/17: Recieved the rejection I was expecting from Penn. The status checker updated 01/14 as Decision rendered, letterhead was dated 01/09... Bummer.

01/24: Rejection from UCLA. Really wanted this one....reallly reallly reallly reallly really wanted this one.
Edit: Forget the University of Crappy Law Admissions (sorry super corny)...

01/29: Got my WL from Vandy. Nice letter, gave me some hope, time to work on LOCI and beg for an interview! Also got really nice letter from Dean Partlett at Emory regarding my admission.

01/30: Checked my status checker to find this: After reviewing thoroughly your application for admission to UC Berkeley School of Law, the Admissions Committee has decided, with regret, not to offer you a place in the Class of 2012. We wish you all the best in your applications to other law schools and in your career. Thank you very much for your interest in Berkeley Law and for entrusting us with your application. Bummer...

01/31: Physical letter from UCB arrived, generic and boring. Letter from Stanford came as well. Dean Faye had a wonderful way of being sincere and encouraging. I was expecting these but still not excited. Think I may make a collage of my rejections and use them as motivation once in school.. perhaps not.

02/25: After patiently waiting 11 days I called Duke to inquire about the whereabouts of my "decision letter." They had sent it to the wrong address. They responded the next morning via email, stating that in the interest of time they will just copy the letter in email, which stated that I am denied admission and yadda yadda yadda... glad I am not worth the 42 cents it would take to mail it, but I do appreciate the quick response. Well, just a few more schools to wait on

03/02: Hmm, so I opened my mailbox to find a manilla colored envelope from GWU. I thought I was dead in the water until I turned it over to open it and found a WL card. I suppose a WL is >>>>> then a rejection but still I wanted the DC option. Oi vey. The worst is that two of my recommenders are Alumni (one is a former GWU Finance professor as well) from GWU. However, in the last few days I have recieved news of an award I recieved and had a break through at work (community health clinic) so maybe I will be able to write an interesting LOCI! I have also decided to go to Emory to visit next week... WOOP!

03/04: On a lark I checked my UT status checker (after months of not checking) to find that I have been waitlisted... this actually suprises me. I guess its waitlist season for me!

03/12: BU voicemail at 3:30 PST... So excited!!!! I sent in an addendum this morning, but I imagine it hasn't been added to my account yet. Maybe it will help with a scholarship!

03/30: Letter dated 03/24 from Cornell, added to the Reserve list. Decision to come by May, which could then be a WL... gah!

04/06: On hold at WUSL...via email...me ftl

04/12: Decided to attend ELS, withdrawing from W&M and BU. Still gonna remain on the WLs and Deferrals but unless its USC, Cornell, or Vandy I will likely be in Atlanta this fall...

04/21: Received a call today from Ms Fruscione at ND asking if I was interested in remaining on the waitlist now that they are sending WL candidates to the Review... I told her I wasn't but that I appreciated the phone call, I also told her that I hope someone who really wants Notre Dame get a chance to attend which I sincerely mean- good luck other WLers!

05/06: Finally recieved news from USC- Waitlisted. Time for an epic WL journey in which I will get in off this waitlist. Off to write an LOCI and then make USC want me

05/27: In at WUSTL via email with scholars in law $$. That complicates my decisions, but I genuinely excited by it!

05/28: In at USC via phone call, 22 days after being waitlisted and 3 days shy of 7 months after applying. I sent in two new LORs, 2 LOCIs, a thank you note, and an updated resume. I am so excited I can't even hide it, I'm about to lose control and I think I like it...

If only I were as on top of my game as you, my friend. Best of luck!

Thursday, October 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Looks like people have heard back from a number of schools...so anxious...

Thursday, October 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

I know...I even think I will be rejected by Fordham :( The reason about USC over UCLA is I am not a CA resident...not US citizen nor anything...

Thursday, October 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congratulate on your W&M acceptance! Awesome school...hope more schools will reveal their choices in the next couple of weeks...:)

I hope I'm able to work up an appetite or at least carry on a decent conversation over the dinner table. "What's wrong, son?... Oh, honey, if I were an admissions officer I would admit your right now." "Thanks, mom. I'm going to go check my application status now."

Congrats on W & M and good luck with the rest of your cycle!

Thanks!

It is good to know that I will be attending law school next year.

Bummer...
Friday, July 04 2008 at 08:00 PM

I got my first rejection today, as well. Why did I ever mess with Texas?

Thursday, October 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Sorry about MNN. How did you find out about ND?

Weird...
Friday, July 04 2008 at 08:00 PM

Sorry about UMN and ND (still hope there, though.) Both are in very cold places, thus this may be a blessing in disguise. Oh yes, come on Cornell.

Emory!
Thursday, October 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Congrats on Emory! Got the package before X'mas.

I kind of feel like you're the male West Coast version of me. We're numbers cousins, I too went to college at sixteen, and volleyball and being a club president (billiards club) are two of my extra curriculars. Please stop stealing my life ASAP.

What's the Rush?
Tuesday, January 20 2009 at 07:00 PM

It's amazing that you were able to go through college almost completely as a teenager and do so well while playing sports. My question: What's the rush to go to law school right away? You are so young (I promise I mean that in a good way), why not travel, take an internship, etc? Just curious...and best of luck w/ UT Austin and Cornell.

Congrats on BU!
Monday, March 09 2009 at 08:00 PM

Hey, congrats on BU! Maybe we'll be classmates in Boston next year...?

Thursday, October 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Thanks! Congrats with BU acceptance as well! Are you visiting Boston sometime?

Hey, yeah, I'm sure your job must be really formative for guiding your decision to practice law. We'll see where I end up with that... And as for BU and Boston in general, I'm hoping never to leave, so I'm coming at your question with a bias already... But the area around BU is amazing, right alongside the river and right in the middle of everything. If you're looking for a pristine, gated campus, this isn't it (although BC feels that way), but there's a real community inside BU's law tower that I love. Boston, to me, is big enough to feel like a city, but not too big to be lost in. And being right on Comm Ave wouldn't be too shabby, either... :)

Got my USC acceptance this morning! Pretty excited about the open door at CA!

Thursday, October 09 2008 at 08:00 PM

Seems everyone deferred from EA have been put on "reserve" now...

Congrats!

It's okay--all is forgiven. :) But rock on at Emory and good luck! I hope you enjoy ATL.
