I'm blonde...that gets me into Harvard, right? I saw it in a movie so it must be true. (I'm totally kidding)

I'm sure a lot of other non-traditional students have the same question: how much do they value my work experience? I am an award winning journalist--but from my GPA I'm sure you can tell how much fun I had as an undergrad. I'm hoping my resume will speak louder than my GPA. Cross your fingers!!!

12-3-09 Heard from Stetson by way of letter. Waitlisted. Blow to ego because thought this would be a soft

12-4-09 Tried to submit online to KU--wait...what? I have to send in a check? Ok will do Monday. Really like their Media Law clinic. Want to focus on Media or Sports Law. Also submitted applications to U of Miami (really like what I hear about their involvement in Sports Law) and Notre Dame (Hail Mary. Literally. Hmm...maybe I should have wrote that in my Personal Statement? My dad said I should have written about who I would replace Charlie Weis with...LOL)

12-13-09 got a fee waiver from Marquette. Another Sports law program with great reputation. So applied :)

12-20-09 finally have access to a printer that communicates with my laptop so finished KU and UF applications. These are the "biggies" because of affordable tuition.

12-28-09 got a letter dated 12-24 from Miami saying my application has been put on hold. Encouraged to send more info--I've considered retaking the LSAT....now I'm really considering...Any thoughts? (I'm counting this as a waitlist btw)

1-7-10 Under Review at KU, UF. Email saying complete and going through review at Marquette. American says "Decision made." Eek. Now wait for small letter or big letter.

1-11-10 small letter. sadness.

1-15-10 ROCK CHALK--WAITLIST. Boo. Waitlisted at my alma mater. I applied for Summer admission--don't know if that changes things or what. Also--visited U of Miami today. Very nice campus--but the tour guide talked a lot about himself and not the law school. At one point dragons were mentioned. Maybe it's because I'm older...but I was like really? I'm used to a little more professional. But--the Director of Admissions met with me and had some good advice/insight. She says they have seen a lot more applications early in the cycle--and they don't know if that means they'll continue to get more bc of the economy or if people just applied early. They also know that people applied to more schools this year--so they don't know how that will work out. So--what this means for us "hold" and "waitlist" peeps is we may be waiting til april to hear. :( Hope this helps the rest of you. by the way...I feel like a waitlist GODDESS! At least it means the committees are reading my application...

1-15-10 5pm AN ACCEPTANCE!! Ave Maria via email w 15k scholarship. At least somebody loves me :) Email says details to follow...

2-22 Notre Dame reject. No surprises here...but thank you ND for not rejecting me after 5 days like you did some folks. At least I know you pondered my essays.

2-27 Marquette WL --I'm going to withdraw here. I like their sports law program but let's be honest, the only school I'll cross the Mason Dixon line for is old KU.

Also an update--I emailed Stetson and asked if I could be put on WL for part-time as well. They pushed my app through for PT and I was accepted. Yay! Now my top three are Stetson, KU and UF if the gators happen to want me.
